Special Events Manager Job Description

The Special Events Sales Manager is responsible for selling and servicing events. Primary sales efforts are in Banquet Food and Beverage and include; menu planning, agenda setting and meeting services. Duties also include contract review and facilitating communication before, during and post event with pertinent staff to ensure a high level of service.

The Special Event Sales Manager also maintains strong customer relationships, participate and may lead event meetings and other staff meetings, and work as a team member with the sales and events staff. The manager also works closely with an assigned Special Events Coordinator and other support staff.
REQUIREMENTS:
• Strong organizational skills and a detailed follow through
• A minimum of 3 years’ experience in Catering Sales (Off-Site experience preferred)
• Prior experience in restaurant and/or hotel operations (a plus)
• Must have strong knowledge of food, wine & spirits
• College Degree in Hospitality or Hotel / Restaurant Management (a plus)
• Excellent verbal and written communications skills
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office and comfort with new software; i.e. Reserve Catering Contract Database
• Ability to exercise effective judgment, sensitivity, and confidentiality at all times
• Ability to multi-task and work on broad variety of projects
• Professional demeanor with the ability to interact with all types of clients

As a Special Events Sales Manager additional responsibilities include:
• Inventory Ordering
• Implementing and Revising SOP’s (Standard Operational Procedures) for banquet staff. From attire to steps of service, set-up and
breakdown.
• Social Media Marketing
• Building Collateral
