Job Details

We are looking for talented Hosts for Anything At All, our restaurant on the ground floor of the Graduate Hotel. Hosts are responsible for providing warm hospitality to guests, managing reservations and walk-in diners, helping to facilitate the flow of service throughout the night, and maintaining a general command of the food and beverage menu.

Working management at all levels to ensure superior guest service throughout service.

Reservations & Communication

  • Maintains warmth and hospitality in all correspondence with guests
  • Has strong working knowledge of Call Mom’s reservations software and reservations policy
  • Encourages walk-ins and bar business
  • Helps coordinate large party reservations, private dining requests, or special circumstances with management
  • Maintain a warm, hospitable and friendly environment for guests and co-workers; this is the top priority
  • Greet guests and determine the best way that we can take care of them: seat reservations, send guests to the bar, maintain a waitlist when necessary, all while constantly communicating with the guests
  • Communicate all necessary guest information with the team to set everyone up for success (allergy alerts, VIPs, special requests, celebrations, etc. 

Menu Knowledge 

  • Maintain an understanding of Call Mom’s food menu and have the ability to clearly describe our offerings
  • Have a grasp of Call Mom’s beverage program and be able to summarize our philosophy and identify our different offerings
  • Understand different types of allergy restrictions and help communicate potential issues to floor and kitchen staff

Station Set Up 

  • Set up the host stand and dining room according to step by step guide and specifics laid out in the service manual
  • Work with the rest of the service team to ensure that the dining room is fully set up in time, offering help to teammates as necessary

Brand

  • Understand and communicate Call Mom’s values and brand philosophy to customers and staff and set the tone for a positive work environment
  • Promote the Call Mom’s vision while establishing us as an innovator within our industry
  • Actively involved in Call Mom’s publicity opportunities and community outreach
  • Walks the talk with who we are and what we stand for internally and externally
  • Brings to life a guest-centric vision with our retail operations

Requirements

  • 1-year minimum experience as a Host in a restaurant or similar customer-facing capacity
  • Ability to satisfactorily communicate in English with guests, management, and co-workers to their understanding
  • Ability to walk/stand for extended periods of time
  • Ability to work nights, weekends, and holidays

Physical Demands and Work Environment

The work that restaurant cooks do is both physically and mentally demanding. They are on their feet much of the time.  Cooks typically work about forty hours a week. However, because the restaurant serves the public and is open seven days a week, cooks may work longer, irregular hours.
