Description
Austin Proper Hotel & Residences is seeking an experienced Lead Cook at the Peacock Restaurant. This 32-story modern high-rise includes 244 rooms and a limited collection of 99 branded luxury residences and penthouse for sale. Amenities include two rooftop pools, wellness center and spa and three food & beverage destinations driven by McGuire Moorman Hospitality.

Job Overview
- Supervises the kitchen and line cooks
- Reports directly to the Executive Sous Chef and Executive Chef
- When Executive Chef and Executive Sous Chef are not present, responsible overseeing the operations of the kitchen
- Cook and prepare all menu items in accordance standards set by the Executive Chef ·
- Stock and maintain sufficient levels of food on the line
- Prepare and portion food items prior to service
- Maintain a clean and sanitary work environment
- Answer, report and follow instructions from the Executive Chef, Executive Sous Chef or Chef de Cuisine
- Clean up station and take care of leftover food
- Stock inventory appropriately
- Ensure that food comes out simultaneously, in high quality and in a timely fashion
- Comply with nutrition and sanitation regulations and safety standards
- Maintain a positive and professional approach with guests and colleagues

Requirements
- 3-4+ years of similar experience in a fast-paced environment
- Excellent understanding of various cooking methods, ingredients, equipment and procedures
- Accuracy and speed in executing assigned tasks
- Familiar with industry’s best practices
- Proactive attitude with strong organizational and time management skills
- Flexible schedule - Willing and able to work shift duties that may include evenings, weekends and holidays
