The Event Planning Manager is responsible for
the daily operations of the Event and Conference Services department. Ensures
the success of meetings and events, serving as the liaison between the hotel
operating departments and the client while striving to maximize both service
and profitability.
Job Overview
• Build and foster relationships with clients by
creating and coordinating meetings and events
• Generate detailed group resumes and
communicate with Hotel Department Heads
• Assist in the development and implementation
of effective marketing plans for generating catering revenues
• Optimize room rental charges and event upsell
opportunities
• Assist with the monthly forecasting and the
annual budget process
• Handle special projects as requested by the
Director of Events & Groups and Director of Sales & Marketing
• Ensure that events progress seamlessly by
following established procedures, collaborating with other employees, and
ensuring accuracy
• Greet customer during the event phase and
hands-off to the Event Operations team for the execution of details
• Ensure billing accuracy and conducts bill
reviews with the clients prior to processing the final bill
• Manage group room blocks and meeting space for
groups and events
• Identify operational challenges associated
with his/her group and determines how to best work with the property staff and
customer to solve these challenges and/or develop alternative solutions
• Participate in customer site inspections and
assists with the sales process as necessary
• Lead formal pre-event and post-event meetings
for small to average-sized assigned groups
• Facilitate Banquet Event Order and Resume
Meetings
Qualifications
• Thorough knowledge of sales techniques
including strong closing skills and negotiation skills
• Solid food and beverage knowledge
• Customer-service focused
• Strong communication, analytical,
organizational and time management skills
• Excellent knowledge of computers, specifically
Opera, Delphi, Word and Excel
• Must have a Flexible work schedule
• 1-3 years of hospitality experience in Sales,
Catering or Banquets
Education
Bachelor’s degree required.
