As a Payroll and Benefits Specialist, a typical day might include the following:
• Perform daily payroll department operations including but not limited to using Excel, Micros POS, iSOLVE payroll and HRIS
systems to ensure employees are paid accurately for time worked
• Manage workflow to ensure all payroll transactions are processed accurately and timely
• Complete and submit all payrolls by necessary day and time. This position is extremely time sensitive
• Reconcile payroll prior to transmission and validate confirmed reports
• Understand proper taxation of employer paid benefits
• Process correct garnishment calculations and compliance
• Utilize Micros time and attendance processing and upload into payroll
• Perform compliances for unclaimed property / stale dates payroll checks
• Process accurate and timely year-end reporting when necessary (W-2, W-2c, etc.)
• Develop ad hoc financial and operational reporting as needed
• Process manual check and relocation metric’s
• Download and review reporting
• Research employee payroll questions, respond in a timely manner
• Basic administrative of benefits including but not limited to healthcare coverage, dental, long term disability and life insurance,
401k retirement and vacation time
• Assist with ACA compliance and eligibility
• Assist with orienting new team members to payroll and benefits
• Assist with annual open enrollment activities
• Other duties as assigned
