Finance Manager


Description

This role contributes to Beds and Bars ambitions and values by providing best in class financial management and support to all stakeholders of the business for the EU region.
To lead and manage the EU Finance Division to deliver accurate, timely and complete financial information to the Group Financial Controller (GFC) and to drive the financial performance of the EU operating units by working closely with the Regional Operations Director.

You must:
-Have all the necessary documentation in which to be legally employed in the country in which you are based
-Have all the necessary documentation required by any local/regional/national certifying or governing bodies in which to operate legally within your unit(s) country
-Have an up to date/active bank account in your own name
-Be able to converse fluently in English and the native language of the country in which your unit(s) operate

MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES

ACHIEVING TARGETS AND GROWING PROFITS:

-Providing all statutory financial information and supporting schedules for the relevant business unit(s) as per legal requirements and internal deadlines, including annual report and accounts for the relevant business unit(s)
-Providing all management accounts for the relevant business unit(s) including commentary on performance, KPIs and budget/forecast variances on a monthly basis and within set deadlines
-Reviewing operating performance with the Regional Operations Director on a monthly basis to ensure maximisation of revenue and cost control to achieve medium term targets whilst stimulating long term growth
-Preparation and submission of unit annual business plans & budgets and quarterly forecasts to the Group FC
-Managing and reporting on business unit cash flow and treasury arrangements on a weekly basis – including variances to plan and future funding requirements
-Report and manage unit fx position in accordance with B&B policy
-Manage business unit(s) audit appointments, ensure audits are completed in a timely fashion and to fee budgets, minimise audit assurance risk
-Provision of Covenant compliance certificates for lenders and landlords (if applicable)
-Assisting the evaluation of new business products, business unit developments, mergers, acquisitions and disposals in accordance with policy & procedures
-Managing Group policies regarding debt, taxation and equity for business unit(s)
-Managing the business unit tax position for corporate, payroll and VAT to mitigate tax risk and optimise the business unit tax position

LEADING & DEVELOPING PEOPLE:

-Managing the EU finance teams, including motivating and leading the team to work to the highest standards, at all times. Creating an environment to encourage a sense of responsibility, involvement and ownership
-Manage the day-to-day performance of staff, in line with company personnel policies and procedures
-Manage the day-to-day attendance of staff, in line with company sickness and absence management policies and procedures
-Identify recruitment needs and take an active role in search and selection activities and the appointment of staff, in line with company recruitment process, ensuring that all paperwork is correct, completed and copied to all necessary parties concerned
-Identify and monitor training needs and take an active role in developing people in your team
-Taking responsibility for your own development by completing in-house training, recording Continuous Professional Development (CPD) in line with recommendations and communicating learning needs with your line manager
-Taking the lead in implementing company policies affecting the EU Finance Team
-Deal with employee complaints and/or grievances promptly, in line with company guidelines
-Communicate effectively with the team through weekly team meetings
-Manage and maintain employee personnel and training files for your team members
-Adhering always to all company policies and procedures and local laws

MAINTAINING CONTROLS & STANDARDS:

-Managing and controlling all financial transactions and accountancy matters, maintaining the integrity of the general ledger including implementing and reviewing audit systems
-Assist with the development, implementation and maintenance of group accounting policies & procedures ensuring consistency of application across the relevant business unit(s)
-Ensure that the business unit finance infrastructure is robust, properly maintained and fit for purpose per Group policy
-Pro-actively seek opportunities to develop the transaction processing and accounting environment with the aim of achieving standard processes wherever possible and more efficient operation
-Support the drive to better STP across the Group
-Oversight and quality control of all activities within the business unit Finance Team(s)
-Maintaining awareness of industry and accounting practices, procedures and legislation through networking, attending conferences and reading appropriate articles/publications
-Maintaining awareness of tax and legal regulations in relevant entities for corporates and employees

PROVIDING A BRILLIANT EXPERIENCE FOR OUR CUSTOMERS:

-Provide specialist advice/recommendations to Business unit MD(s)/Business head(s) and challenge assumptions around business performance/operations
-Collaborating with other divisions to achieve best solutions for clients and staff
-Sustaining strong relationships with Group & business unit senior management, peers and colleagues
-Sustaining/supporting business unit key external relationships with auditors, banks, lenders, suppliers etc.

GENERAL:

-Any other activities which the company may consider necessary and relevant to the role from time-to-time

• University Degree, preferably in business related field.
• Part/fully Qualified member of an accountancy body.
3 years of experience in a similar role
financial senior management experience in hospitality industry
good knowldge of UK GAAP EEA and IFRS accounting directives
