Description
The Cellar in Manhattan is beautiful; the menu is simple, rustic New American using only high-quality ingredients. We are looking for high-energy, hard-working, Lead Cheesemonger for our Beecher’s Handmade Cheese store in New York City. This is one of our busier stories, catering to locals and visitors from all around the world. If you enjoy a dynamic work environment, have a passion for providing excellent customer service, and love delicious quality food, we want you for our team!

Our Lead Cheesemonger will educate our staff and guests, stock and maintain our selection of cheese as well as the conditions and appearance of the cheese case.

RESPONSIBILITIES
• Greet guests, identify their needs, and assist with purchases
• Provide product recommendations for food and drink pairings, recipes, and gift ideas
• Prepare and serve cheese samples to customers
• Educate guests on the different types of cheese and our Pure Food Commitment
• Maximize sales by practicing up-selling and ad-on sales
• Maintain and stock cheese case by packaging, weighing and labeling product
• Ensure cheese cutting practices are being followed
• Maintain department shelf conditions and cleanliness including completing price changes, shelf and display sign maintenance, and execute new and discontinued items
• Follow proper procedures for food safety

SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED
• 2+ years’ experience as a Cheesemonger in previous role
• 2+ years’ experience in high volume café/retail or food service experience
• Absolute love of CHEESE! and gourmet foods
• Basic knife and cheese-cutting skills
• Exceptional customer service skills
• Must be 18 years or older
• Ability to lift at least 50lbs repeatedly
• Ability to stand for 4+ hours at a stretch
