Description
Lead prep cook for catering operations needed for a new retail bakery and cafe. The position supports our pop-up lunch menu that promotes our business at different locations around Los Angeles.

You will be accountable for preparing the set up for off-site lunch services. This will include preparing all ingredients at our operations kitchen, packing, delivering, serving, break down and clean up. You will also partner with sales to sell lunches and promote our retail café!

Schedule is 7am - 3pm and 9am - 3pm (4 weekdays - approx. 30 hrs. per week)

You must be able to adapt to new situations, follow instructions and work both independently and as a team. This is a great opportunity for a skilled cook to take a leadership position to support growth in catering and train staff in operations.

General Responsibilites

• Inspects and clean food preparation areas or serving areas to ensure safe and sanitary food-handling practices.

• Ensures food is stored and cooked at correct temperature by regulating temperature of ovens, broilers, grills, and roasters.

• Ensures freshness of food and ingredients by checking for quality, keeping track of old and new items and rotating stock.

• Seasons and cooks food according to recipes or personal judgment and experience.

• Bakes, roasts, broils, and steams meats, fish, vegetables, and other foods.

• Observes and tests foods to determine if they have been cooked sufficiently.

• Washes, peels, cuts, and seeds fruits and vegetables to prepare them for consumption.

• Carves and trims meats for hot or cold service.

• Consults with supervisory staff to plan menus, taking into consideration factors such as costs and special event needs.

• Coordinates and supervises work of kitchen staff.
