Located on the shores of Penn Cove on Whidbey Island, in the heart of Ebey’s Landing National Historic Reserve, Captain Whidbey has provided legendary island hospitality and dining since 1907. With 30 rooms, a new restaurant and bar concept, 6 beautiful acres and a dock for seaplanes, boats, and kayaks on Penn Cove, Captain Whidbey will become the coolest place to work on Whidbey.
Purpose of Position
To support the maintenance of Captain Whidbey's back of the house, front of the house and 6 acres of landscaping/grounds areas in accordance with Captain Whidbey standards by performing and managing the maintenance functions of the Hotel and its grounds. This position reports to our Chief Engineer.

Essential Job Functions/Responsibilities
Work with lead engineer on preventative maintenance programs for all equipment, systems, guestrooms, public areas and the hotel grounds
Mows Lawns, waters grounds, performs various "landscaping related" duties, stocks fire place wood box's
Performs any and all duties as required by Hotel GM and Chief Engineer
Ensuring all work is conducted in a safe and efficient manner
Support capital improvement projects
Work with outside contracts with support from lead Engineer and hotel GM
Prioritize work orders and manage your projects and work load effectively
Responsible and accountable for supporting the upkeep, repair and renovation of property
Reports any hazards or injuries in the department or hotel and takes immediate action to correct
Ensure record keeping is maintained to appropriate standards
Deviations of hotel policies and procedures which come to the Engineering’s attention are reported to the General Manager.
Supports periodic, walk through/visual inspections of all property assets to determine condition, establish maintenance priorities and highlight areas where need for improvement exists
Creates 100% guest satisfaction by providing Yes I Can! genuine hospitality and by exceeding guest expectations
Gives personal attention, takes personal responsibility and uses teamwork when providing guest service
Listens, apologizes with empathy, finds a solution and follows through when resolving guest problems
Supports the properties preventative maintenance program

The education, specialized training, required licenses or certifications and/or years of directly related experience required to enter this job:
• Minimum 1-2 years’ experience in the facilities management of related properties or
other comparable business (hospital/property management) preferably in the Hotel or Commercial office environment.
• Any licenses or permits required by law for specific job functions
