GENERAL PURPOSE:

To manage and participate in all wine related activities, ensuring that the highest quality products and service are delivered with respect to the locations wine program, working with Group Bar Manager and/or Bar Manager to help choose and curate wine varieties for our beverage menu. We are looking for a sommelier that will maximize guest satisfaction, providing sommelier service on volume shifts, furthermore capable of providing training to our staff, and supplier negotiation/selection. All work is to be carried out within the departmental business plan and the NZR group corporate guidelines.


GENERAL DUTIES:

·       Create and update the wine list in coordination with the Food and Beverage program.

·       Recommend food and wine pairings.

·       Advise guests on wines based on their personal tastes and food choices.

·       Inform guests about different varieties of wines and prices.

·       Ensure wines are served at the right temperature and within the proper glassware.

·       Collaborate with Bar manager to store open bottles properly.

·       Manage wine cellar / storage and ensure its fully stocked and secure.

·       Train all wait and bar staff on available wines.

·       Negotiate purchase prices with various vendors.

·       Organize and suggest wine tastings and promotional wine events.

·       Ensure all legal and safety regulations are met regarding wine service.

·       Comply with all company health and safety regulations.


ACCOUNTABILITY:

·       Actively participate in assisting to achieve departmental goals and objectives and carry out assigned work by Managers, London Head Office and Executive Chef.

·       Actively engage in your own personal development to benefit the business and improve your personal skills – probationary period reviews, annual appraisals, attending training and development courses.

·       Actively participate and host weekly/monthly departmental meetings and any other meetings that you are required to attend.

·       Actively participate in addressing complaints and resolving problems.

·       Actively participate in controlling wine inventory, including orders and counts.


 

KNOWLEDGE, PERSONAL SKILLS & PREFERRED EXPERIENCE:

·       3 years’ experience in Bar and restaurant management with a large wine program.

·       Personal License holder

·       COSSH or equivalent training.

·       Extensive Wine and beverage knowledge

·       Ability to create tastings and educational documents.

·       Good health and safety knowledge.

·       Ability to communicate with customers and peers with a friendly and positive attitude.

·       Self-motivated, continuously seeking to succeed and progress in career within the company.

·       Extremely flexible and committed.

·       Lively, enthusiastic and confident.

·       Ability to handle difficult situations successfully.

·       Excellent organizational skills.

·       Excellent supervisory and management skills. 


WORK ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS:

·       UK resident.

·       Pre-Settlement or Settlement status, required to provide Share Code.

·       National Insurance Number.
