City Winery strives to deliver the highest-end combined culinary and cultural experience to our customers who are passionate in sharing wine, music, and culinary arts. We are a unique facility, combining a fully functioning winery with intimate concerts, food & wine classes, private events in a variety of configurations, and fine dining. Position Summary

The Shift Supervisor is responsible for efficient day to day shift operations and supervision of staff. This position exhibits strong leadership and personnel oversight skills accompanied by guest service orientation and commitment to excellence. The Shift Supervisor will actively participate in addressing guests, correspondence and dealing with vendors, and will aid in setting up the management and service teams for operational success.

 

Minimum Qualifications

  • Minimum 2 years supervisory/managerial in a fast-paced, high-volume food and beverage service environment and/or equivalent relevant experience
  • Ability to work in varying outdoor conditions during winter season
  • Strong knowledge of POS systems
  • Knowledge of state and local alcohol ordinances
  • Strong work ethic and exceptional guest service skills
  • Proven leadership skills and commitment to excellence
  • Professional and effective interpersonal, leadership, and communication skills, both written and oral
  • Appreciation and general understanding of the music, food, and wine business
  • Polished presentation
  • Ability to work both independently and in a team environment
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule including days, nights, weekends, and holidays
  • Ability to work in varying weather conditions
  • Ability to perform physical requirements of the role including standing/walking for entirety of shift, bending, pulling, pushing, using stairs, lifting and carrying up to 40 pounds

 

Overview of Responsibilities

  • Ensure operation is fully prepared, organized, and ready for business at opening; ensure proper shutdown of nightly closing
  • Provide on-the-floor support to sales / service for the duration of a service shift and manage day to day floor operations, including overseeing side work, observing steps of service, and maintaining overall cleanliness/tidiness of the spaces
  • Oversee preparation of beverages and ensure quality of product served
  • Monitor staff performance and hold team accountable to meet expectations
  • Maintain adequate product inventory and replenishment; communicate needs in a timely manner
  • Properly schedule, allocate, and support staff throughout shifts to maintain speed and quality of service
  • Check in with guests regularly to ensure satisfaction and identify potential opportunities
  • Resolve customer complaints promptly and according to company guidelines; report issues, concerns, and questions to appropriate management parties
  • Regularly examine and ensure cleanliness and maintenance of location
  • Ensure all safety, sanitation, and health guidelines are followed at all times
  • Perform all cash handling procedures: opening, mid-day safe counts, cash pay-outs and nightly cash drops, as needed
  • Conduct pre-shift and staff meetings; support staff trainings
  • Maintain pars of all printed promotional materials, comment cards, or other check presenter inserts
  • Assist in interviewing, hiring, and development of staff in liaison with management
  • Recommend staff coaching and disciplinary action as needed
  • Uphold and enforce all Company policies, procedures, and practices
  • All other tasks and duties as per business need
