Established in 1987, Docks Oyster Bar specializes in bringing the freshest seafood to Manhattan. Located in the heart of midtown, the expansive bar and tables lining the windows of 3rd Avenue and 40th Street further creates a timeless New York atmosphere. We pride ourselves on our well prepared food, outstanding service, great wine list, and unforgettable ambience to keep guests coming back time and time again.

 The Opportunity

Our Oyster Shuckers play an integral part of restaurant operations. They perform the proper preparation of raw and cooked “Raw Bar” item as dictated by menu; plateaus, lobster, crab, clams, oysters, shrimp and more.

What You'll Be Doing

  • Adheres to company guidelines on proper food presentation and safety/ sanitation standards. 
  • Knows the proper methods of handling each product and all ingredients. 
  • Able to learn to identify oyster species. 
  • Able to set station up independently. 
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and maintain ticket times. 
  • Follow other kitchen duties as instructed by senior kitchen staff or supervisor.  
  • Communicate effectively with guests (light, display station only) and other staff members. 
  • Daily and weekly kitchen cleaning tasks. - Perform daily inventory of all ingredients.

Quality candidates will be:

  • Team players with strong work ethic.
  • Responsible and trustworthy.
  • Motivated with a desire to work in a restaurant, learn, and grow.
  • Willing to offer assistance whenever asked.
  • Organized, clean, self-sufficient, and capable of working fast. 

Requirements:

  • A minimum 3 years of experience in a well-rated restaurant.
  • A culinary degree or other culinary training.
  • A spirit of cooperation with co-workers and managers. 
  • Ability to learn how to safely use and maintain kitchen equipment.
  • Ability to learn, understand, and execute hygiene and safety rules. 
  • Ability to perform the physical requirements of the job, carry up to 50 pounds, walk and stand for shift duration. 
  • Commitment to maintaining availability that aligns with needs of the business
