Dan Rooney's is one of Southern Westchester's most tasteful delights; the only upscale casino pub with a vintage vibe and a redefined décor that offers an elevated bar experience. Conveniently located in Yonkers and just minutes away from NYC, Dan Rooney's Café offers an atmosphere and flavor of a traditional pub with its unique entertainment, delicious food, and extraordinary bear and whiskey menu at Empire City Casino. Dan Rooney's is seeking a Restaurant Cook with a passion for the Food and Beverage/Hospitality industry that possesses reliability and a creative, detail oriented, and team player outlook. The ideal candidate will share our passion for providing efficient, friendly, prompt, and quality service to all guests of the restaurant.

Responsibilities:
Responsibilities are under the direct supervision of the Sous Chef.

o Prompt preparation of all hot and cold food
o Proper portion control, plate presentation, and garnishing of dishes
o Check and decipher the freshness of food and ingredients prior to cooking and serving
o Understand and follow critical standards of raw, cooked, and finished food
o Serve and carve meat on buffet lines as needed and replenish food on the buffet
o Safe and proper handling of all kitchen tools, equipment, and chemicals
o Proper following of food safety practices
o Clean, stock, and restock work stations and items in the kitchen when necessary
o Maintain the cleanliness of the kitchen at all times
o Follow procedures as per kitchen standards and operate in a safe manner at all times
o Assist in all areas of the kitchen as necessary
o Present oneself with a neat and clean appearance at all times
o Provide friendly, prompt, efficient, hospitable, and quality service to all guests of the restaurant and casino
o Comply with all department and company rules, regulations, policies, procedures, and internal controls
o Promote positive public and employee relations
o Attend periodic meetings and training sessions
o Perform other duties as assigned


Qualifications:

o Must be 18 years old and able to obtain the appropriate license pursuant to the NY State Gaming Commission regulations
o Must possess a minimum of one year experience cooking on a line in a restaurant, catering hall, or similar environment
o Must possess the ability to work a flexible and fluctuating schedule with extended hours
o Must possess knowledge of basic ingredients, cooking methods, and techniques
o Must possess the ability to communicate effectively in English (both orally and in writing)
o Must possess the ability to follow instructions and take direction
o Must possess the ability to read kitchen tickets
o Must possess the ability to understand and follow verbal instruction pertaining to food orders as requested by the guest and/or specific instructions listed on kitchen order tickets
o Must be knowledgeable in the safe usage of kitchen equipment
o Must be a team player and able to work in a team oriented environment
o Must possess the ability to work in a high volume and fast paced environment
o Must possess the ability to stand, walk, stoop, bend, reach, and stretch for extended periods of time
o Must possess the ability to perform heavy lifting of at least 50lbs
o Must possess the ability to visually view work area
o Must possess the ability to understand and comply with all company safety policies and their requirements (including attendance at training meetings as scheduled)
