DESCRIPTION
DIRECTOR OF FRANCHISE DEVELOPMENT
Farmer Boys is growing its footprint in
California, Arizona, and Nevada. Recently named one of the fastest-growing
burger chains by Restaurant Business magazine (https://pages.winsightmedia.com/index.php/email/emailWebview?md_id=71494) we will continue to build on our high
average unit sales volumes and strong new unit growth. The Director of
Franchise Development will develop the strategy, tactics, tools, and prospects
needed to build and grow the Farmer Boys brand in our existing CA, NV, and AZ
markets, as well as explore new adjacent markets.
Unlike other franchisors, we are less about
the number and more about the fit of new franchisees. As head matchmaker and
gatekeeper, the ideal candidate will identify, screen, and secure highly
qualified restaurant franchisees that fit well with our brand and operating
model.
ROLE RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Prepare and execute
the five-year strategy for existing and new franchise growth
- Maintain franchise
criteria for the selection process, financial requirements, and operational
goals
- Source, track, and
maintain leads for prospective franchisees
- Identify, screen, and
present qualified external candidates to join the brand as new franchisees
- Assess operational and
financial capabilities of existing franchisees to help them grow with the brand
- Structure new programs
to assess and identify internal operators as potential franchise partners
- Identify, analyze, and
target new adjacent geographical markets
- Manage and support all
phases of the franchise development process, including market planning, site
selection, and supporting the real estate department in identifying and
approving new locations
- Maintain effective
franchise communications in partnership with Franchise Operations
- Administer new and
existing franchise agreements, area development agreements, and
contract renewals
- Help ensure and enable
the long-term success of all franchisees in the system
- Continue to build on a
desirable and highly profitable franchise business model
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Extensive franchise
development experience
- Strong professional
network in free-standing quick service or fast-casual restaurants
- Experience recruiting
and signing new franchisees
- Basic knowledge of FDD
legal requirements, real estate, site selection, and new site construction
- Experience with and
exposure to multi-unit franchise development agreements
- Strong organization
and follow-up skills
- Excellent
interpersonal, organizational, communication (written & verbal), and
presentation skills
- A high level of
integrity, and a passion for our brand and the restaurant industry
- Sound financial acumen
specific to the restaurant industry
- Extremely
goal-oriented with the ability to prioritize
- Minimum 5 years’
experience in restaurant business development, sales, or operations
- Bachelor’s degree
preferred, or commensurate experience
- Ability to travel
regularly
- Experience with a
family-owned business a plus
