Description

CAVA is a rapidly expanding fast casual restaurant and CPG brand focusing on fresh, Mediterranean inspired, better-for-you cuisine. Born from our full service restaurants, our chef-driven fast casual format will soon be in ten states with further expansion ahead. We are looking for a passionate and creative Culinary Development Coordinator to help implement our vision.

Our Culinary Development Coordinator is responsible for testing and executing all food and beverage recipe additions and changes. You will work directly with all departments including culinary, training, operations, and marketing - testing new recipes, teaching the staff, and gathering input from the CAVA team. You’ll help craft the culinary vision of CAVA’s growing restaurant base, from seasonal menu rollouts and recipe re-do’s, to testing operational improvements and assisting with new restaurant openings.

As our Culinary Development Coordinator, you will lead:
1. Food Innovation
o Lead R+D committee meetings to shape where CAVA culinary is going
o Work together with Ops Services and Sourcing to test new recipes, equipment, new products, etc.
o Strategize with external vendor research and development teams to create an innovative food culture
2. Culinary Brand
o Represent the CAVA brand both internally and externally, collaborating with Founder Chef Dimitri
o Conduct large group seminars & training sessions, present in a way that inspires.
o Be Comfortable in the public eye, confident in skills and abilities, able to verify and coach behaviors.
3. Core + Seasonal Menu Changes
o Analyzing new seasonal trends, and studying the business impact of seasonal menu sales
o Lead continuous improvements of existing menu flavors, costing, nutrition, and operational execution
o Work with the Food + Beverage team on seasonal menu costing, and development of profitability targets
4. Culinary Support
o Support the creations of menus and flavors for events and functions
o Make decisions about food safety, nutrition, and culinary operations
o Be able to deliver and travel for high level training & core menu rollouts

The Ideal Candidate:
• Has a love of food
• Has coordinator / project management experience
• Has a passion for teaching and training
• Is comfortable being on the road, visiting our CAVA locations
• Has excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Is highly organized and self motivated
• Has culinary experience (is comfortable in a restaurant kitchen)
• Has above average computer skills
