Server/Waiter/Waitress Job Summary
Must be willing and able to:

• Effectively service a 6 table station within 2 weeks of start date.
• Accurately account for and balance all sales and receipts.
• Communicate clearly with the bar and kitchen both verbally and utilizing the computer register system.
• Communicate effectively with co-workers.
• Complete all sidework when and as assigned.
• Present and encourage current promotional information and materials to guests.
• Accurately account for all guest checks issued.
• Accurately record and account for all items ordered and served.
• Accurately accept payment from guest.
• Secure manager’s approval and signature for any complimentary or voided item.
• Notify guest of any automatic gratuity and/or charges.
• Perform calmly and effectively under pressure.
• Communicate with guest clearly, patiently, courteously and with good humor.
• Perform varied duties to ensure all aspects of service according to standing operating procedure.


Barback Job Summary:

Responsible for stocking the bar coolers and storage areas with appropriate items, as well as maintaining the cleanliness of all these areas. Also assists the bartender with sidework, glass washing and restocking of appropriate items.

Essential Functions

Must be willing and able to:

Stock and restock appropriate areas with liquor, beer, wine, glassware, miscellaneous bar supplies, ice, etc.
Move and transport filled glass racks, ice, cases of liquor, beer, and wine, etc.
Mechanically and manually wash and sanitize bar and glass wares.
Maintain cleanliness of bar and bar/storage areas.
Prepare mixes (juices, sweet n’ sour, bloody mary mix, etc.) and prepare needed for recipes of mixed beverages.
Safely and efficiently use knives and other utensils/equipment necessary to complete beverage set up.
Properly change beer kegs, CO2 tanks, and soda and wine dispensers.
Operate all functions of barback service alone and without assistance if necessary.
Account for and maintain security of bar and storage room(s) inventories.
Perform functions contained in BUS and/or PORTER job descriptions.
Complete sidework as assigned in a timely manner.
Complete coffee orders according to standing operating procedures.
Communicate with guest in a friendly, courteous and service oriented manner.
Perform more than one task at a time.
Perform calmly and effectively under pressure.
Communicate effectively with guests and co-workers.
Communicate problems to management immediately.

Read and be accountable for the information in the Employee Handbook and Training and Safety Manuals.
Be an active team player.
Understand and follow supervisor’s instructions.
Comply with dress code.
Maintain and clean uniform.
Maintain a well manicured appearance and persona that reflects the established image of the company.
Perform under more than average stressful conditions.
Make appropriate judgment calls under stressful conditions.
Maintain a clean and orderly work area throughout shift and leave it ready for the following shift.
Follow proper hand washing procedure.

Qualification Standards

Prefer a minimum of 1 year bus/barback experience or the equivalent.

Must be willing and able to:

Meet personal schedule requirements punctually.
Project a friendly, courteous and pleasant attitude.
Get along with co-workers.
Provide a clean, well manicured persona which reflects the image of the company.
Safely transport boxes/containers which weigh up to 50 lbs. from the bar area to storage areas and vice versa.
Read English proficiently.
Sufficiently master English language to communicate effectively.
Sufficiently master English to respond to questions and directions.
Stand and walk for an entire shift.
Safely transport items on a slick and uneven surface.
Transport dishes, bus tubs and/or trays from the dish washing areas to the bar areas and vice versa.
Safely move about in all areas of the location.
Accept constructive criticism.
Work a variable and flexible schedule which may include nights, weekends and holidays.
Open liquor and wine bottles frequently.
Safely tolerate hands in frequent contact with liquids including hot and cold water, cleaning substances, alcohol, various kinds of juices and other liquids.
Perform in limited space with variable ventilation, smoke and extreme temperatures.

Rules

May not take or give away any unauthorized company property including food or beverage.
May not eat or drink certain unauthorized items during a shift.
May not work under the influence of alcohol or other mood altering substances.
May not keep any unauthorized items in personal locker.
May not resort to any physical violence or harassing behavior.
