In-Room Dining Employee / Kingside (tipped employee)

What you do, generally speaking:
You process in-room dining orders. You process delivery orders. You assemble and deliver amenity orders and assemble items for and execute service for special events when applicable.

Essential Functions

Must be willing and able to:
• As an In-Room Dining Employee your scope of work spans the following areas:
o In-Room Dining: Expedite phone orders and deliver them to hotel guest rooms.
o Local Delivery: Expedite phone orders for local delivery and instruct the delivery runners in delivering them to guest in the neighborhood.
o Hotel Amenities: Assemble and deliver hotel amenity gifts to hotel guest rooms.
o Special Events: Assemble items for and execute service for special events when applicable.
• As an In-Room Dining employee, you are on the front lines dealing with guests. It is absolutely crucial that you are cordial, warm and friendly and make everyone feel taken care of when interacting with them over the phone and in person.
• You must know everything there is to know about all of our menus and daily operations. Guests will inevitably ask you questions and you must be able to answer them.
• You are expected to master the phone within the first 2-days.
• You are expected to master the delivery zone and the hotel floor and rooms map within the first 2-days.
• You are responsible for all items assigned to you.
• Have a full working knowledge of the following systems: Future POS, phone, fax, Seamless Web.
• Understand and administer sequence of service for the in-room dining and delivery department.
• Possess an exceptional level of product knowledge regarding all menus, food and beverage, brunch, lunch, dinner and overnight.
• Read pre-shift boards before the start of every shift and be aware of any 86’s and daily specials and report this information to off-site delivery team daily at start of shift.
• Prep and stock your station at the beginning and at the end of each shift with all necessary items including but not limited to pens, dup pads, staplers, credit card imprint slips, utensil bags, food bags, trays, cloches, hotbox trolleys, condiments, roll-ups, silver ware, cans of soda, etc, break down and clean your station at the end of each shift.
• Make sure all equipment is on and operating properly before the start of shift, inform a manager of any problems with shortage of items or damages to equipment in use.
• Operate swiftly and accurately, executing all delivery orders with a high level of organization.
• You are also responsible for making sure that we expedite as many orders as possible at all times and to ensure that guests are receiving the orders at desired temperatures, complete with proper condiments and beverages.
• You are expected to manage the freight and guest elevators while delivering orders to hotel rooms and adhere to the schedule accordingly.
• Be in regular contact with management team to ensure proper orders, complaints or problems are dealt with swiftly.
• You are also expected to alert management whenever you are leaving your station to ensure we do not miss any calls.
• During a POS failure, know how to use the items from the crash cart to process orders and checks manually, working with off-site delivery team to keep delivery running team organized and with necessary tools (incl. fanny packs, pens, credit card imprint machines and slips, maps, communication devices, etc).
• Distribute fanny packs to delivery runners at the start of shift, complete with markers for counterfeit bills, envelopes for check outs, check presenters, credit card imprint slips, credit card imprint machines, pens, coats, gloves, communication devices and a cash bank and have each runner sign fanny pack out.
• Collect the receipts and cash of each transaction for in-room dining, hotel amenities and delivery at the close of your shift. Perform your check-out and oversee the check-outs of the delivery staff and fill out the tip pool log book accordingly.
• You are responsible for assembling items for special events specified in our event pull lists.
• When scheduled you are responsible to participate in the service of special events.
• You are responsible for the receipt of amenity forms, the processing of amenity orders, the assembly of the order and the delivery of the order to the guest rooms.

Must be willing and able to meet the following location requirements in the following:

• Communicate effectively with co-workers.
• Complete side work when and as assigned.
• Perform more than one task at a time.
• Perform calmly and effectively under pressure.
• Respond knowledgeably to questions about your delivery orders and timeliness.
• Relate to guests pleasantly and with good humor.
• Communicate with guest clearly, patiently, and courteously.
• Communicate problems and/or gust complaints to management immediately.
• Perform varied duties to ensure all aspects of service according to standing operating procedures.

Accountabilities

Must be willing and able to:

Possess a working understanding of the English language to communicate effectively.
Acquire and wear appropriate uniform or comply with dress code as prescribed in the training manual.
Maintain and clean uniform.
Maintain a well-manicured appearance and persona that reflects the established image of the company.
Maintain a clean, sanitized and orderly work area throughout shift and leave it ready for business for the following shift.
Be an active team player.
Understand and follow supervisor’s instructions.
Work under more than average stressful conditions.
Make appropriate judgment calls under stressful conditions.
Use tact and appropriate judgment to smooth out difficulties with guests.
Promptly report guest problems to a manager.
Read and be accountable for the information in the Employee Handbook and Training Manuals.

- Part or Full Time.

- New York Food Protection Certificate a big plus.
