About your role

Requirements
▪ Maintain kitchen and other designated areas to a high standard of hygiene and cleanliness.
▪ To maintain all kitchen equipment utensils, cutlery, flat wear, and other designated items to a clean and hygienic standard.
▪ To help create an environment where a culture of cooperation and positivity thrives.
▪ To support the head chef in ensuring that all food safety and COSHH regulations are adhered to.
▪ To support the head and sous chefs in creating safe working environment for all team members.
Main Duties
▪ To use all cleaning appliances and equipment in the correct manner as per manufactures instructions.
▪ Work with head chef and sous chef, to ensure the basic day to day running of your department is carried out in the correct manner.
▪ Ensure that your daily check list of duties is completed.
▪ Work with the head and sous chef to ensure all aspects of kitchen cleanliness, ensuring all kitchen areas are maintained in a hygienic condition at all times.
▪ Ensure that all equipment that is washed is then returned to its correct storage place.
▪ Assist the head or sous chef with ordering chemicals and other items used.
▪ Maintain high standards of personal presentation, hygiene and conduct
▪ Take a proactive role in your own training.
▪ Work with head chef and sous chef to ensure that COSHH and
HACCAP guidelines are achieved and maintained.
▪ Work with head chef and sous chef to ensure that all equipment is
properly maintained and stored, with all breakage’s and
breakdowns being properly reported
▪ To effectively communicate information to the rest of the team
when necessary.
▪ Look for the most efficient possible ways of working to increase
productivity.
▪ Comply with timekeeping and attendance policies.
▪ Have the desire and ability to improve your knowledge and
abilities through on-going training.
▪ Ability to work as part of a diverse team with colleagues from
different viewpoints, cultures and countries.Demonstrate and
understanding of all policies relating to health and safety
▪ Familiarise yourself with emergency and evacuation procedures.
▪ Work with head chef to ensure all health and safety incidents,
accidents and near misses are correctly logged in a timely
manner.
▪ Take moral responsibility for conducting themselves in their work
so they do not expose themselves or others to risk.
▪ Where necessary make use of safety equipment, such as gloves,
goggles, aprons, overalls, shoes and so on.
▪ Return safety equipment to its designated storage area after use,
and report any damaged or missing equipment.
▪ Take reasonable care when storing, handling, and using chemicals
and dangerous substances, lifting and carrying, and using or
cleaning dangerous work equipment, including machines.
▪ Ensure that any risks which they notice, or which have been
brought to their attention, are either where practicable, made safe
where not practicable reported to the head chef.
▪ Assist in the preparation.
▪ Perform other tasks at the level of the role as directed by your line manager in pursuit of the achievement of business goals.
