Hawksmoor is opening in an incredible restaurant space in New York: a beautiful National Historic Landmark built as The United Charities Building in 1893 with an incredible 10 metre ceilinged assembly hall that will form the main room of the restaurant. The location is just off Park Avenue South and north of the prestigious Gramercy Park and Union Square.
The restaurant will be 170 seats with a 50-cover bar and will be opening early 2020.

Reporting to the Bar/ Beverage Manager we’re looking for a brand-new Lead Sommelier to join our team and open our first international restaurant in New York.

Key responsibilities of the role include:
• Successfully executing and leading the Hawksmoor wine programme in NYC.
• Training and developing the Sommelier team in product knowledge and service.
• Ensure service and hospitality standards are high and consistent through good understanding of the full wine programme and all other products.
• Being a strong presence on the floor supporting the Front of House team.
• Work together with the Bar/Beverage Manager to curate the wine programme and ensure successful inventory management.
• Oversee ordering, goods receival and stock management at Hawksmoor.
• Hold training sessions for the full Front of House team to develop and improve knowledge.

To be considered for the role you will have:
• Extensive experience working in some of the best bars and restaurants in New York.
• Experience launching and opening restaurants and bars in New York and the US.
• Comfortable and experienced with high volume businesses in terms of both covers and revenue.
• Good interpersonal skills and ability to work harmoniously with all departments.
• Exemplary product knowledge of food and beverage and specifically wine including recognize industry qualifications.
• Experience managing and being responsible for a wine programme and team in NYC.
