The Newt in Somerset is a new and unique destination already attracting a recognition at the highest level.  Our 300-year-old estate complete with woodland, lush gardens and breath-taking views welcomes guests from all over the world. Our hotel is a home from home where our team deliver outstanding service in informal surroundings.  Gardens, orchards, and treetop walkways inspire whilst roaring fires and our wellbeing spa offer tranquillity.

Food is a passion across the estate, whether hotel or our restaurants or farm shop.  Much is sourced from the estate and trusted local suppliers. 




Department Description


Our reservations team are a key part of the hotel & visitor attraction, being the first point of contact for most guests, usually by phone or email. We pride ourselves in offering each guest a personalised experience, through building relationships and pre-empting their needs.



Position Summary


This is a role for a self-motivated, confident and personable individual with high attention to detail The role involves working as part of a team to ensure all visitor attraction, hotel, spa & restaurant enquiries are responded to accurately, and in a timely manner, whilst pro-actively monitoring upcoming bookings and ensuring all guest needs are met. Weekend and bank holiday work is required.

 

Key Responsibilities:


  • Answer incoming calls with a smile
  • Proactively assist guest’s with enquiries
  • Respond to incoming emails pre-empting any further enquires guests may have
  • Successfully convert new enquiries
  • Manage guest expectations
  • Accurately record reservations
  • Payment handling over the phone and via online systems
  • Enforce company parameters & cancellation policies
  • Ensure data is stored securely
  • Assist colleagues & other departments where required
 
 

Skills and Experience


  • Availability to work weekends
  • Customer service experience essential
  • Experience in the hospitality industry preferred
  • Personable and clear telephone manner
  • Written communication skills
  • Attention to detail
  • Time management and the ability to effectively prioritise workload
  • Self-motivated with initiative and genuine interest in guest satisfaction
  • Problem solving skills and innovative thinking
  • Teamworking skills and enjoying working in a team environment
  • Microsoft office and basic computer skills
  • Willingness to learn and work with a variety of systems
