Description

Job Summary: 

The Melvyn’s Restaurant Manager is responsible for the overall guest experience in our legendary establishment. The Melvyn’s Restaurant Manager will manage all operations while personally assisting with every VIP and/or special event.  Manages within pre-established cost controls, manages financial and administrative responsibilities. Will manage scheduling and training for the restaurant staff and directing the team to provide consistent, high quality service.

Essential Functions:

  • Works with Director of Outlets, Executive Chef, and other food and beverage managers to develop and execute the day to day operation and special functions of the Melvyn's Restaurant, Bar, and lounge.
  • Delegates tasks to ensure dining room is set “on time” and to service standards.
  • Manages departmental inventories and assets including par levels and maintenance of equipment.
  • Projects supply & equipment needs for the department.

·         Establishes consistent standards for regular dining service and VIP events.

  • Conducts dining room inspections prior to each service to ensure the room is set according to standards.
  • Maintains cleanliness and sanitation standards in all areas of the restaurant, bar and lounge.
  • Coordinates with necessary departments to maintain the cleanliness and integrity of the dining room, bar and lounge and its facilities.
  • Reviews the reservation book on a daily basis to ensure maximized and efficient use of all dining spaces.
  • Coordinate and service the entire food and beverage operation throughout the daily meal periods and.
  • Responsible for ensuring all reports, personnel/payroll related administrative duties are completed accurately and according to company policy.
  • Maintain professional and upscale food and beverage image, including restaurant cleanliness, proper uniforms and appearance standards.
  • Implementation of food and beverage menus for outlets, in-room dining and catering with guidance from Hotel Manager.
  • Ensure a safe working environment for both employees and guests.
  • Train evaluate and coach personnel in all food and beverage operations.
  • Promote positive interdepartmental relationships
  • Ensure operating costs are within budgetary guidelines.
  • Maintain a flexible work schedule.
  • Must have a thorough knowledge of the hotel, its services and amenities and be able to effectively communicate them to staff and guests.
  • Respond to guest reviews, emails, and all correspondence in a timely and professional manner.
  • Ensures that the food & beverage department staff always takes pride in always offering the highest quality service and cuisine.
  • Perform all other job requests as assigned by direct manager.

Job Specifications:

  • 3 years’ experience in restaurant management, preferably in a fine dining environment. 
  • Great organizational skills.
  • Proficient in MS Office, Word, Excel, and other F&B applications.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Ability to read, write and communicate verbally in English
  • Loves engaging and creating a personal connection with our guests.
  • Multi-tasking skills.
  • Enjoys a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to present self in a professional, pleasant, confident and well-groomed manner.
  • Ability to work effectively with other department employees and guests.
