IRVING FARM NEW YORK | LINE COOK POSITION:
JOB DESCRIPTION:
An Irving Farm line cook is a highly motivated individual who is willing to put valuable effort in to providing breakfast and lunch service in a fast-paced environment. With a rotating seasonal menu, love and passion for food is a must. Cleanliness, organization, and good charisma are necessary. Must be able to communicate effectively with all staff.
REQUIREMENTS:
Maintaining a clean kitchen for proper work flow:
During service, a cook must maintain a clean kitchen keeping all necessary health code requirements up to par. This includes having a sanitizer bucket, maintaining a clean cutting board, all foods at proper temperature.
Abiding by health code standards:
Health inspections are unannounced, which means that a cook has to be ready at all times; starting with acquiring a NYC certified food handlers card. Cooks must use gloves when touching ready-to-eat food.
Following directions from the Chef in cooking techniques, execution, and organization standards:
When providing food to a customer the cook must be proud of the food that is being prepared. A clean plate, tidy sandwiches, and following company standard plating techniques as dictated by the Chef are key components.
Maintaining a positive and professional attitude with coworkers:
The kitchen environment is one of high paced movement and stressful conditions at times. In order to maintain a positive work flow, you must be aware that good conduct and a good approach to interacting with your teammates will result in an overall positive experience for your shift.
Able to read and follow recipes:
All recipes will be taught thoroughly in person. In order to maintain a consistent product, it is imperative to follow the recipe provided. Must be able to read and understand recipes and tickets.
Physical requirements:
Must be able to stand for long periods of time up to 8 hours. Must be able to go up and down stairs. Must be able to lift and carry up to 50lbs.
Punctual:
In order to perform your responsibilities effectively, arriving on-time is necessary.
