 JOB TITLE: Health and Safety Director

REPORTS TO: VP of Risk Management

The Health and Safety Director is responsible for implementing the overall health and safety strategy, policies, and standards to ensure the safety of all customers, team members, and guests.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILTIES

• Ensures that all Health & Safety policies, procedures, rules and regulations are regularly reviewed, updated and communicated.

• Works with business unit training teams to create any pertinent health and safety training.

• Partners with the JFC Security and LP Director to outline plans to prevent and prepare for an adverse event, including awareness, exercises, methodologies and training for management and team members. Creates and updates Standard Operating Procedures for department and restaurants, stores, facilities, etc.

• Inspect or evaluate workplace environments, equipment, or practices to confirm compliance with safety standards and government regulations.

• Partner with JFC Claims Manager and Operations to ensure that all near miss and incidents are documented, investigated and preventative measures have been implemented.

• Communicate and coach field and corporate support office teams regarding health and safety related items.

• Keep up to date with relevant Federal and State OSHA legislation and communicate relevant changes.

• Serve as main point of contact for any Federal or State OSHA related matters.

• Leads regulatory safety investigations and responds on the company’s behalf.

• Keeps the VP of Risk Management updated on health-related concerns that could impact the company.

• Lead the Safety Committee at all facility locations (bakery, commissary, roasting facility) within the organization.

• Design and oversee the Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) program to be utilized across all brands.

• Provide regular reports to the Senior Leadership Teams across all brands on relevant health and safety activities.

• Prepare reports on occurrences and provide statistical information to the Senior Leadership Teams.

• Ongoing maintenance and update of Health and Safety related materials on internal portals.

• Performs other related duties as assigned or requested.

 

JOB REQUIREMENTS

• 5-7 years’ experience in occupational safety required.

• California OSHA experience required

• Background in restaurant, retail, or hospitality industry preferred.

• Bachelor’s Degree in related area preferred.

• Ability to build, maintain, and strengthen cross functional relationships at all levels.

• Ability to simultaneously manage multiple projects from conception through implementation as well as day to day matters.

• Excellent interpersonal, communication, presentation, and critical thinking skills.

• Ability to work independently as individual contributor as well as collaboratively as a team member.

• Proven ability to convert data and information to strategy and to implement best practices and process improvements.
