THE OPPORTUNITY

Jayde’s – a new curated Café & Market, Deli & Wine Shop opening Fall 2017 – is looking for experienced and passionate Culinary Team members to be part of the daily operations of the dynamic deli & café food programs. Jayde’s will be the neighborhood’s source for all things healthful and delicious; offering an array of farm-fresh produce, quality prepared foods, and an extensive collection of outstanding wines, craft beers & rare spirits.

A Culinary Team Member should be professional, hardworking, and organized with an energetic spirit and solid culinary pedigree. He or she should be an experienced culinary professional and possess a genuine passion for food and cooking, to consistently deliver memorable guest experiences. This position reports to the Sous Chef and Culinary Director.

THE ROLE

Jayde’s Culinary Team Members will be responsible for the day-to-day operations of the Deli and Café culinary programs. Important tasks will include, but not be limited to: preparing gourmet foods, cooking to recipe specifications, prepping food items needed for the Café, Deli, and Market, helping to manage, organize, and control inventory, upholding proper food health and safety standards, merchandising, catering preparation, and special culinary projects.

The ideal candidate should have a well-developed palate, and work collaboratively with the Culinary Management Team to execute menus that celebrate seasonality and consistency. As part of the menu, we will provide options for restricted diets, including low-carb, vegan, and gluten-free options. The Culinary Team Member will uphold elevated standards of service, and promote teamwork by maintaining a culture of mutual respect and exceptional morale. As this role will often be guest facing, excellent customer service skills are a must.

QUALIFICATIONS

We are looking for talented individuals with:

• A minimum of 1 year professional cooking experience.
• Experience working in high-end, chef-driven restaurants or grocery settings with a focus on seasonal, local ingredients.
• Involvement with new store openings, catering, and deli operations are strongly preferred.
• Excellent communication, customer service, and basic computer skills.
• Valid California Food Manager or Certified Food Handler Certificate.
• High school education is required; a degree or certificate in a related field is preferred.
• A schedule that is open and flexible in order to adapt to the needs of the business.
• Ability to lift 50 lbs. and stand for extended periods of time (8+ hours).
