JOB DESCRIPTION


We are looking for a proactive Health & Safety Advisor who will be integral to ensuring KERB and our traders are fully compliant so we can deliver Events and Markets to the highest standards. As the Health & Safety Advisor you will implement all aspects of our company’s Health & Safety policy across the business, ensuring that both our internal operation and our members are compliant.  As the H&S Advisor you’ll carry out regular audits, create policies, lead investigations, write up comprehensive reports and ensure all relevant legislation is being followed to the highest standards possible whilst working with multiple stakeholders. 

 

The day to day will include:


  • Training our members and the KERB team to understand health and safety regulations

  • Work closely with the Head of Health & Safety to develop and deliver a strategy for continual improvement in health and safety culture, performance, and practices.

  • Use FoodAlert to monitor the members’ health & safety documentation, ensuring it is compliant and in date

  • Attending events to provide on-site health and safety support and advice for members and the KERB team 

  • Onboard new KERB members by attending site visits, auditing and guiding them through the H&S process

  • To  investigate accidents/incidents and cases of ill health 

  • To investigate food related complaints and assist KERB members in completing investigations of food complaints

  • Responsibility for KERB contractor management and ensuring that required documentation is  kept up to date

  • To assist KERB with supplier approval

  • Helping to drive a positive cultural and behavioural shift in relation to health and safety in our businesses and team

  • Keeping up to date with current health and safety legislation and ensuring compliance with this legislation

  • Carrying out risk assessments and assisting the team with the creation of site specific RAMS for their events 

  • Carrying out site inspection to ensure KERB policies and procedures are being implemented

  • To keep records of inspection findings and produce reports that suggest improvements

  • To provide practicable and professional advice and assistance to staff of all levels

  • To undertake any other duties as may be reasonably required by the Health and Safety department

  •  

PERSON SPECIFICATION

  • At least 2 years experience of of working in a similar role and ready to hit the ground running
  • Comprehensive knowledge of the relevant Health & Safety, Food Safety and Environment legislation to KERB operations
  • An In Depth knowledge of food safety and have a keen eye for detail.
  • Health & Safety qualifications: minimum of Level 4 Food Safety and a NEBOSH General Certificate or equivalent
  • Knowledge of UKLPG Code of Practice 24 Part 3 – 2017; Use of LPG for Commercial Catering Events, Street Food and Mobile Catering
  • Experience of working in a Health & Safety Risk Management role in a multi-site business.
  • A successful track record of auditing, inspecting, risk assessment, implementation of policies, procedures, training, investigating accidents and performance reporting.
  • Experience of risk management in an F&B environment.
  • Experience of working with Clients, enforcing authorities, third-party contractors and councils.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Excel, Google Drive and relevant H&S qualifications
  • Prior experience working with FoodAlert is preferred 
  • Exceptional communication, both verbal and written. It is important that you are able to provide clear and concise support and leadership to the team and can build relationships with the suppliers, third parties, stakeholders and the KERB team
  • A self starter who is able to manage your own workload in addition to supervising and supporting the team around you. 
  • High level of discretion, confidentiality and professionalism with handling sensitive data and information
  • Due to the nature of the hospitality industry, you’ll be flexible and adaptable in your work week and understand that not one day is the same and unsociable hours will sometimes be required
