Description

WELCOME TO KFC

Welcome to Kentucky Fried Chicken. Our world famous chicken restaurant brand all started with one cook, Colonel Harland Sanders, who created a finger lickin’ good recipe more than 75 years ago, a list of secret herbs and spices scratched out on the back of the door to his kitchen. He started travelling by car to different restaurants and cooked his fried chicken on the spot for restaurant owners. He did this at the age of 65. If the owner liked the chicken, they would enter into a handshake agreement to sell the Colonel’s chicken. Legend has it that Colonel Sanders heard 1009 “No’s” before he heard his first yes. The Colonel’s story still inspires us today. It reminds us how grit, perseverance, dedication and ambition along with hard work can create success; regardless of your age or where you come from.

Our purpose as an employer is to empower our people to find their own secret recipe in life too.

ABOUT THE ROLE

KFC are on the lookout for a bold, creative Graphic Designer to bring our internal brand communications and experience to life. You’ll be responsible for keeping our 30,000 strong team connected to the brand, engaged and entertained through your creative design.

This is a unique opportunity to join the growing, award-winning, internal brand and experience team at one of the largest, best-loved brands in the UK. The role offers immediate exposure to all areas of the business as you work collaboratively with key stakeholders across the brand.

You’ll have the opportunity to get stuck into a huge range of briefs to showcase your talent. The type of work you’ll do will vary from large creative campaigns to more day to day artworking, but you’ll apply the same energy, passion and exceptional standards of delivery universally.  The same is true about the different mediums you’ll design for, whether it’s making something print ready or pixel perfect.

We’re looking for an original – an innovative, dynamic and enthusiastic person who always has their finger firmly on the pulse. Someone who ‘gets’ the fun, fresh, bold KFC brand personality and applies that across all their work.       There’s buckets of opportunity to grow as part of an ambitious brand and we’d love you to be keen to adapt and grow your career within KFC and Yum!

And did we mention there would be chicken?! Probably should have led with that…

WHAT YOU'LL DO:

  • Work collaboratively with key cross functional stakeholders to understand the strategic design requirements and criteria and develop the creative brief
  • Lead the design and execution of innovative, compelling and effective graphic design/artwork across a huge variety of different briefs and mediums to bring our events, projects, campaigns, concepts, strategy and communications to life.
  • The list of where you could use your talents to add value really is endless, for example creating assets for campaigns and activations, logo/concept identity and development, large and small format print graphics, merchandise and swag design, infographics, templates, leaflet and poster designs, presentations, social media and digital signage assets and creative design support for our events. You’ll also be prepared for and thrive on ‘unusual’ briefs from trophy and temporary tattoo designs to ‘golden chickens’.
  • Maintain effective stakeholder communication throughout the entire creative design process from brief, to presenting design proposals, to capturing and actioning feedback all the way to debrief.
  • Act as the brand guardian, educating and empowering the wider team to work with our brand guidelines.
  • Build a deep understanding of our target audience and develop innovative and effective ways to reach them through your creative design.
  • Bring strong relationships with external creative agencies and partners
  • Maintain current awareness of industry and technology standards and trends

WHAT WE'D LOVE FROM YOU:

EXPERIENCE & CAPABILITY

Essential

  • You’re an Adobe guru, fully proficient in a range of Adobe Design packages, notably InDesign, Photoshop and Illustrator.
  • Experience working to tight deadlines balancing multiple projects and briefs, with the ability to prioritise effectively
  • Experienced in concept development, with confidence in presenting ideas to stakeholders.
  • Ability to demonstrate experience and confidence across every point of the design lifecycle, from ideation, visualisation, design and final artwork.
  • You’ll be able to share and impressive, versatile, creative portfolio showcasing a variety of projects and creative executions across print, through to art working and digital, with strong typographic skills, that you’ve worked on from conceptual design through to completion.
  • Excellent typography skills, creative mind and a sharp eye
  • Ability to work well autonomously and set your own daily workload. You won’t be micro-managed here and we’ll be looking for you to pick up a brief and run with it independently.
  • A strong understanding of design principles, typography, and layout.
  • An exceptional eye for detail and meticulously high-quality standards.

Desirable

  •  In terms of experience, the role would likely suit a mid-weight designer with 3+ years professional experience but if you’re a confident junior designer ready to take the next step, come show us what you’ve got.
  • Copywriting skills
  • Videography skills
  • Motion graphics animation
  • Proficiency in After Effects
  • Working knowledge of premier-pro or similar video editing software.

ABOUT YOU

  • You’re a talented designer with a keen creative eye who’s equally passionate about the technical details
  • You'll be comfortable working with, and consulting on brand guidelines, knowing when to work firmly within, and when to push the boundaries
  • You have a genuine passion for design and creativity, with a curiosity and ambition to produce outstanding work, able to work collaboratively with direction, or independently
  • You’re a problem solver at heart, thriving on creative challenges, but putting just as much energy into ‘day-to-day’ briefs, because you care about everything you do
  • You understand the detail is where the magic happens, so you’ll have a strong eye for detail, nothing will pass you by
  • You’ll be ready to roll up your sleeves and get stuck in, we’re looking for someone who enjoys pace and wants variety in their role.
  • You’ll have the perfect combo of creative flair coupled with strategic insight.
