Description

This position supports the Accounting Manager. Responsible for the month-end closing process, preparation of financial statements, general ledger account reconciliations, P&L, inventory analysis, filing of sales and use, as well as property tax returns and year-end audit. Both US and Canadian territories will be in the scope of this position.

Essential Job Responsibilities:

  • Facilitate and complete end of month closing procedures.
  • Analyze end of month operating expenses, shrinkage, cost of goods sold and margin.
  • Work closely with the Accounting Manager in the monthly reconciliation of inventory and shrinkage analysis for all locations.
  • Assist with the reconciliation and analysis of annual physical inventory counts.
  • Analyze revenues, commissions and expenses to ensure they are recorded appropriately.
  • Maintain and review Fixed Assets schedules and run monthly depreciation.
  • Prepare monthly deferred rent and percentage rent payment schedules.
  • Prepare and maintain Balance Sheet reconciliations.
  • Analyze P&L accounts on a monthly basis and ensure accruals are booked as needed.
  • File, reconcile and analyze sales and use taxes.
  • Assist with preparing income tax returns and corporate reporting requirements.
  • Maintain the property tax database and file annual returns.
  • Fulfill external and internal auditor requests during different times of the year (i.e. Sales tax audits, property tax, certification of sales to landlords and year-end audits).
  • Prepare monthly bank reconciliations.
  • Provide training to new and existing staff as needed.
  • Participate on special projects assigned by upper management.
  • Perform all other duties as assigned and required.


Requirements/Qualifications:

  • BS in Accounting required.
  • Three plus years experience in similar position; experience in a medium or large sized multinational company preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of US GAAP, IFRS, internal controls and financial reporting required.
  • Prior experience in a retail/wholesale environment preferred.
  • Advanced Excel skills required (ability to work with pivot tables, lookups and IF statements).
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Outlook and PowerPoint.
  • Experience with SAP and Hyperion a plus.
  • Be able to analyze complex financial and accounting information.
  • Good organizational and communication skills essential
  • Previous management experience a plus
