Sales Assistant


Description

Petershan Nurseries Richmond are looking to recruit a Sales Assistant for our Lifestyle shop. 

Position Purpose                                                                                                                                

 As a Sales Assistant, you are the face of the Petersham Nurseries Lifestyle Shop, responsible for providing the highest levels of customer service, demonstrating exceptional product knowledge and building quality customer relationships that result in increased sales and repeat business.

 Principal Accountabilities

 Sales & Service 

·         Welcome all customers shop in a friendly and approachable manner.

·         Serving customers at the till and being an obvious presence throughout the shop – assessing opportunities for up and cross selling throughout the product range.

·         Build lasting customer relationships to deliver increased sales through effective up selling and cross selling throughout the shop.

·         Achieve retail weekly sales targets set by Manager and Buying Team.

·         Maximise sales revenue by offering related products.

·         Handle refunds graciously and turn them into sales opportunities.

·         Increase the customer base by encouraging inclusion in Company database.

·         Give accurate and current information about the product.

·         Direct customers throughout the shop or to the specific area the customer enquires after at all times, even when going on breaks.

·         Taking customer enquiries by phone and handling efficiently and in a timely manner.

·         Aim to achieve ‘Guest Shopper’ commendations.

·         Handle multiple customers effectively.

·         Checking on all customer deliveries due out and liaising with internal delivery dept. or outside couriers.

·         Take part in product training and team briefings, both formal and on a daily basis.

·         Assisting and assuming same responsibilities in the horticultural garden shop when required.

 Merchandise & Operations

 ·         Full and accurate till operation and responsible for cash handling procedures are adhered to.

·         Implement the shop display standards.

·         Keep stock, stock rooms, till points and fixtures, fittings and merchandise clean and tidy.

·         Physically replenishing from stock room and continuing as necessary throughout day.

·         Ensure all stock is ticketed barcoded and priced.

·         Watering and maintaining all house plants as required. Watering of floor and raking as required.

·         Assisting with store room tidy ups.

·         Assist in weekly stock counts and rotation of perishable goods.

·         Assist with (annual/ bi-annual) Stock Takes.

·         Ensure security procedures are followed in order to prevent theft.

·         Accurately administrating delivery files, gift vouchers and write offs.

·         Liaising with stock control for accurate reporting of stock anomalies, wastage and breakages.

·         Work in a safe way following the company guidelines.

 ·         Sales v’s Targets.

·         Replenishment and availability.
