About the Role 

Loveday is looking for an experienced Clinical Deputy Manager to support the General Manager with our residential nursing and rehab care service. At Loveday Esher, these services are divided in two buildings of which the main facilities provide the residential nursing care and the ancillary facilities provide post operative rehab services.   

The Clinical Deputy Manager will support the General Manager in the daily management and leadership of the residential care home, and post operative rehab centre, ensuring high standards of clinical care and operations are maintained. This role involves coordinating and supervising nursing and care teams, implementing clinical governance protocols, and ensuring compliance with health and safety regulations. As the Clinical Deputy Manager, you will play a pivotal role in delivering compassionate, person-centred care to all member while fostering a supportive and positive environment for staff. 

You will enjoy a collaborative working relationship with the General Manager and employees to grow the business and continuously improve the service. There will be plenty of opportunities to use your initiative and apply creative problem-solving skills to manage the day-to-day operation. A calm manner and the ability to think clearly whilst under pressure are essential for this important role. You should continually drive standards to ensure that Loveday’s business objectives and the Care Quality Commission compliance criteria are met. This role will require flexible attitude to working hours especially in regard to covering absence & holidays, including bank holidays, evenings & weekends. 

This role requires an active nurse pin with the NMC. 


Main Responsibilities:  

Clinical Leadership and Management 

  • Provide leadership and support for clinical and care colleagues, and act as a champion for members’ safety and dignity. 

  • Work with the general manager to formulate strategies for service development or changes in service provision and support implementation 

  • Comply with the clinical governance framework and all activities related to it. This includes participation in the clinical audit programme. 

  • Develop monitoring and reporting systems which promote the delivery of safe, effective, and high-quality services. 

  • Ensure that clear and accurate records and communication systems relating to clinical and care delivery are maintained and effectively used by colleagues. 

  • Act as a role model for good clinical and care governance practice. 

  • Liaise with GPs and other (local) health professionals to ensure that members receive the medical and clinical support they require. 

  • Demand high quality service delivery focused on members individually assessed needs. 

  • Promote the professional image of Loveday through excellent communication, appropriate behaviour, and professional appearance. 

  • Ensure there is effective communication and dissemination of information on a frequent and regular basis using various methods to all colleagues. 

 

Staff Supervision and Development 

  • Supervises the rehab centre manager, nurses and care coordinators on a day-to-day basis and through formal clinical supervision. 

  • To maintain skills and knowledge and ensure that care is delivered according to latest guidelines and best practice evidence available. 

  • Assist in the recruitment, training, and mentorship of nursing and care staff, fostering a culture of continuous learning and improvement. 

  • Conduct performance evaluations, identify training needs, and create development plans to enhance staff skills and competencies. 

  • Monitor staffing levels and coordinate schedules to ensure appropriate coverage that meets the needs of members and regulatory standards. 

Quality Assurance and Compliance 

  • Ensure the home adheres to all regulatory and accreditation standards, including health and safety, infection control, and safeguarding. 

  • Conduct regular audits, clinical reviews, and risk assessments, taking corrective actions as needed to maintain high standards of care. 

  • Work closely with the General Manager to implement quality improvement initiatives, monitoring outcomes, and adapting strategies to enhance care delivery. 

Member and Family Engagement 

  • Together with the General Manager act as a point of contact for members and their families, addressing concerns and queries in a timely and sensitive manner. 

  • Coordinate and participate in family meetings, ensuring effective communication and fostering positive relationships with members' loved ones. 

  • Promote a warm, welcoming, and supportive environment for members and their families, emphasizing respect and dignity in all interactions. 

Administrative and Operational Support 

  • Assist with budgeting, resource management, and inventory control to ensure the home operates efficiently and within financial guidelines. 

  • Support the General Manager in maintaining accurate records, documentation, and reports in compliance with legal and organizational requirements. 

  • Take responsibility for the home’s operation in the absence of the Registered General Manager, including emergency decision-making and delegation of tasks as required.
