THE KFC FOUNDATION

The KFC Foundation is the corporate foundation, that’s basically the charitable arm of KFC, set up in 2015, in fact we have our very own charity number!

We support organisations working with young people across the UK to ensure they have the chance to fulfil their potential and build a positive future. The organisations we work with provide spaces that allow young people to feel safe and secure, helping them to unlock talent, build life skills, provide mentoring or improve their chances to gain meaningful employment. We want to fund work that helps young people to create firm foundations, by addressing their needs through early intervention.

We are particularly keen to support young people who have experienced socio economic disadvantage, perhaps had experience of the criminal justice system or are at risk of it, have experience of the care system, are young carers or young parents (to name a few).

We have made donations and grants of more than £6m but we aren’t ones to rest on our laurels. Last year we became a community grant maker, offering grants of up to £2,000 to grass roots organisations working with young people in their communities. Organisations who share the passion we have for developing young people. Our ambition is to grow our grant making programme to support an organisation in every community that you find a KFC restaurant (that’s about 1000).

In 2019 we started a partnership with Comic Relief, who also share our values and have been

supporting organisations in the UK to bring about social change for over thirty years.  We are working with them to fund some organisations here in the UK that provide safe social spaces, mentoring and work and social skills.  We want to raise £3m over the next four years.

OUR VALUES

As the corporate foundation of KFC UK&I we share a lot of stuff; one of those things is our values, starting with our founder Colonel Harland Sanders’ philosophy, we believe there is a right way to do things. It isn’t always easier, but it is always better. There’s no doubt about that and we’re proud of it. In fact, the Foundation was inspired by the Colonel who didn’t fulfil his potential until he was sixty something and who believed in the power of generosity and helping people. We’re spirited and driven. We believe in hard work that makes an impact, a famous recognition culture that celebrates everyone and we try to not to take ourselves too seriously.

MORE ABOUT THE ROLE

The Foundation is pretty new in the scheme of things and we are excited to grow it. The Foundation is run by a Foundation Manager on a day to day basis on behalf of a board of trustees, they are a group of people who are legally responsible for the management of the Foundation.
