Head Sommelier


Description

We are excited to announce that Minibar is currently hiring a Head Sommelier to join our world class, two Michelin star, team.

The perfect candidate for this position will be an individual that is certified through the court of masters or carries an equivalent credential. This person must be driven by curating unique and thoughtful experiences for our guests. The ability to execute formal wine service is also required. 

To be qualified for this role, you should have relevant experience in hospitality.  Experience managing private collections is also a plus. 

Responsibilities

  • Create and update the wine list in coordination with culinary team
  • Maintain wine pairings as vintages and dishes evolve
  • Advise guests on wines based on their personal tastes and food choices
  • Ensure wines are served at the right temperature and within the proper glassware
  • Ensure quality of wine collection is maintained
  • Help manage wine collection and ensure it’s fully-stocked
  • Work with training staff on available wines
  • Negotiate purchase prices with vendors
  • Comply with all health and safety regulations

Requirements

  • Experience as a Sommelier, Wine Steward/Stewardess or similar role
  • Ability to create tasteful food and wine pairings
  • Extensive knowledge of producers, regions, and varietals
  • Understanding of the winemaking process
  • Good communication skills
  • Availability to work during opening hours, including weekends and holidays
