The Junior Sous Chef is responsible for assisting the Executive Chef and Executive Sous Chef in operating clean and safe kitchen and dishroom facilities while meeting or exceeding food quality and speed of service requirements. He/ she / they is responsible for supporting and maintaining the systems in the restaurant, in particular as related to food quality and ordering and the development of people. The Junior Sous Chef is expected to offer guidance and direction to all cooks on a continual basis. He/ she / they must have a positive presence within the kitchen and restaurant as a role model and member of the management team.

Qualifications:
• Minimum of 2 yrs experience in a high-volume setting
• Managerial experience a plus
• Understanding of all stations, techniques and standards

• Able to work independently with minimal direct supervision
• Organized and detail oriented
• Able to handle multiple tasks and works well in environment with time constraints.
• Able to handle last minute changes

Responsibilities (these are not all inclusive):
• Responsible for method of service, production and cooking to ensure all items are prepared to meet deadlines and standards
• Properly execute plated dishes with varying components to standards set by the Executive Chef and Executive Sous Chef
• Complete all closing requirements as directed by the Executive Chef and Executive Sous Chef
• Taste and review products on a daily basis to ensure quality and consistency with preparation and presentation
• Assist with developing, implementing and maintaining new recipes, presentations and products
• Have working knowledge of inventory ordering systems
• Identify and communicate suggestions to the Executive Chef for policies and procedures to improve the operation
• Responsible for assisting the Chef in all administrative duties including but not limited to: scheduling, ordering, new employee orientation & training and documentation (i.e., employee evaluations, write ups, new hire packets and separation notices)
• Attends trainings and meetings as required
• Performs other duties as assigned by superiors
