Description
Bar Manager / Assistant Manager
The Phene is a historic pub in the heart of residential Chelsea with a passion for seasonal British food, top-notch levels of service and a real attention to detail.
Split over four floors, The Phene boasts a leafy terrace garden, three private dining rooms, a restaurant and two relaxed bar spaces. We host over a dozen events and functions a week, keeping us buzzing and vibrant throughout the year. Last year alone we had the pleasure of hosting over 220 weddings.
Established in 1853, The Phene has recently become part of Young's, a fittingly historic partner, and we're looking forward to a new and very exciting chapter.
We are looking for a bar-focused assisstant manager to help develop our team and push our drinks offer and product knowledge to the next level
What we are looking for in a Bar Manager:
- WSET Level 3 in Wine or higher
- Good product knowledge of beers and wines
- Experience in training and inspiring teams
- Experience of stock control and ordering
- Experience of running shifts and duty management in a fast-paced venue
- Confidence in talking to our guests and event hosts about their wine choices
- An eye for detail and a desire to help make this one of the very best pubs in London
The Phene is a special venue. On the face of it we are proudly a neighbourhood pub, as we have been since 1853, but we strive for a level of service and quality far above what you'd expect from your average local, whilst retaining a friendly and relaxed style of service.
We are proud to host hundreds of weddings and celebrations every year, either in our private dining rooms or outside in our leafy garden, unique to the area.
Food is really important to us, and our kitchen team create a regularly changing menu of seasonal british dishes from scratch.
Wine is thus equally important, and whilst our list isn't huge, its carefully curated to ensure there's something for everyone, with a particular emphasis on the old world.
We would like to see the incoming bar manager work with our suppliers to ensure our menu evolves throughout the year, just as our food offer does.
The Phene is now part of Youngs, but from within the venue you probably wouldn't be able to tell. We have our own strong brand identity and strive to be unique and special in whatever we do.
