Description

San Francisco Proper’s new Executive Chef is Jason Fox, former chef/owner of Michelin Star restaurant Commonwealth. Chef Jason Fox leads the hotel’s three unique dining outlets: Villon, Charmaine’s, and La Bande. From fine dining to elevated bar snacks, Chef Fox brings his extensive knowledge of progressive California cuisine to the property and draws on local ingredients and worldly flavors.

 The primary focus of the Host/Hostess will be to provide a superior customer experience from a hospitality standpoint. He/She will assist in coordinating the different facets and timing of (front door, bar, kitchen and servers) to ensure a superior well-paced guest experience. This individual will report directly to the Food and Beverage Manager. He/she must have a visible presence, interacting with the guest base by catering to their needs and making sure any potential issues are mitigated before an experience deteriorates.

Responsibilities

  • Utilize the Reservation System  to monitor and make reservations
  • Assist in handling reservations and floor charts
  • Assist managers with pacing the flow of the guest experience
  • Assist dining room team in tracking and recording guest preferences
  • Support servers in satisfying guest needs by taking direction and assisting as needed
  • Speak eloquently about the hotel, restaurant and menu
  • Understand the different menu items
  • Prioritize guests’ needs above service team member convenience
  • Gain insights to a guests dining preferences through verbal and nonverbal cues
  • Be respectful and courteous to all guests and associates
  • Maintain the ambiance and service standards of the hotel at all times, while on property
  • Prepare room for dining by preparing tables and setting decorations, candles, napkins, service plates, polishing glassware and polishing utensils.
  • Protect establishment and patrons by adhering to sanitation, safety, and alcohol beverage control policies.
  • Assist with food and drink delivery when called upon
  • Respond to additional guest requirements by inquiring of needs, observing dining process.
  • Conclude dining experience by acknowledging choice of restaurant, inviting patrons to return.
  • Capable of taking instruction and providing assistance to the server in their station

·         Assist guests with elevator access

·         Assist with venue cleanliness, set-up, and take-down

·         Regularly rotate through space to check in guest experience.

·         Confirm guest reservations by phone and/or email

·         Assist with guest parking validations

Skills and Knowledge Required:

  • Capability of offering a charismatic service tailored to specific guests and their needs
  • Friendly and able to build a rapport with guests to establish future business
  • Learn and retain the product knowledge relative to the position on the floor
  • This position will be expected to successfully resolve any guest issues and complaints in addition to communicating all concerns to management
  • The ability to exercise the personal discipline and extra diligence to assure that projects are completed on timely basis.
  • The ability to subordinate one’s personal agenda in favor of working collaboratively with the team to achieve departmental goals
  • The ability to motivate and inspire others to work cooperatively to achieve team goals.
  • Maintain a flexible schedule and be willing and able to work shifts that may include days, nights, weekends and holidays
  • Ability to speak with confidence and command the attention of small and large parties
  • Ability to effectively listen to instruction and assist with dining room service when needed.
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Have at least two years experience in a restaurant or two years of hotel experience
  • Maintain of guest information and pertinent restaurant data
  • Think clearly, quickly, maintain concentration and make decisions in high pressure situations

Qualification Standards:

Education: High school or equivalent preferred

Experience: Two years of high end hotel or restaurant experience preferred. Micros experience preferred.

Licenses or Certificates:  TIPS and ServSafe certified preferred
