San Francisco Proper’s new Executive Chef is Jason Fox, former chef/owner of Michelin Star restaurant Commonwealth. Chef Jason Fox leads the hotel’s three unique dining outlets: Villon, Charmaine’s, and La Bande. From fine dining to elevated bar snacks, Chef Fox brings his extensive knowledge of progressive California cuisine to the property and draws on local ingredients and worldly flavors.

Proper Hospitality is looking for an experienced and creative bartender with exceptional bartending skills. We are looking for an enthusiastic individual to provide an excellent guest drinking experience. The successful candidate will be able to mix and match ingredients in order to create classic and innovative drinks in accordance with customer's’ needs and expectations. A thorough knowledge of mixology, wines, liquor and cocktails is required. Applicants need to be gracious, friendly and be able to multitask in a high-volume environment and focus on exceeding guest expectations. Must have a flexible schedule.

 

Responsibilities

·         Opening and closing the bar

·         Full bar service including wine and beer

·         Making drinks in a quick and efficient manner

·         Assess customers’ needs and preferences and make recommendations

·         Plan and present bar menu

·         Check customers’ identification and confirm they’re of legal drinking age

·         Maintain bar inventory and supplies

·         Stay guest focused and nurture an excellent guest experience

·         Comply with all food and beverage regulations

  • Full knowledge of all menus, products, ingredients and specials.
  • Ensures guests are greeted on a timely manner and orders are executed on a timely and efficient manner.
  • Offer quality service at all times
  • Monitor and maintain cleanliness of bar
  • Perform side work as assigned
  • Prepare service station for service
  • Maintain complete knowledge of seat/station numbers, room capacity, hours of operation and proper bar set ups
  • Listen to, and promptly act to resolve, guest issues and requests
  • Achieve maximum customer satisfaction

Skills/Knowledge Required:

  • 2+ years experience as a bartender
  • Excellent knowledge of in mixing, garnishing and serving drinks
  • Computer literacy
  • Knowledge of a second language will be considered a plus
  • Positive attitude and excellent communication skills
  • Ability to keep the bar organized, stocked and clean
  • Relevant training certificate(s)
  • Must be service oriented
  • Must be a team player
  • Knowledge of the practices within the Food & Beverage/Hospitality profession

Physical Requirements:

  • Must be able to lift 25lbs
  • Must be able to stand for long periods of time

Qualification Standards:

·         Education: High school graduate or equivalent education preferred

·         Experience:  Over 2 years previous experience in a similar position preferred

·         Licenses or Certificates: Serv Safe Preferred

·         Grooming: All associates must maintain a neat, and well-groomed appearance (specific standards will be provided)
