San Francisco Proper Hotel is looking for an Assistant General
Manager/Sommelier for its new concept of Tapas & Wine Bar: La Bande.
San Francisco Proper’s new Executive Chef is Jason Fox, former chef/owner of
Michelin Star restaurant Commonwealth. Chef Jason Fox leads the hotel’s three
unique dining outlets: Villon, Charmaine’s, and La Bande. From fine dining to
elevated bar snacks, Chef Fox brings his extensive knowledge of progressive
California cuisine to the property and draws on local ingredients and worldly
flavors.

This position requires exceptional leadership and vision. La Bande Assistant
General Manager/Sommelier is responsible for fostering and developing an
exciting, positive, results-based environment for the restaurant. Must possess
strong personal organization, genuine hospitality skills, and care for staff.
Understands and implements contemporary luxury lifestyle standards.
Responsibilities
• Assist F&B Management team on all operation
and administrative tasks
• Participate in creating and maintaining a positive working
culture for all team member
• Participate in overseeing hiring, training, coaching, development, and
discipline for Outlet FOH staff
• Liaise with and supports the goals of the culinary management team.
• Maintain the quality and consistency of the guest experience
• Participate in Outlets financial performance and goal establishment
• Liaise with all hotel departments to represent Outlet operations
• Seek new opportunities and strategies for the improvement of the Outlet
operations
• Create and maintains procedural protocol for Outlet Operations
• Maintain compliance with departmental policies, procedures, and standards
• Oversee operations in compliance with legal and regulatory agency
requirements
• Actively manage the food & beverage operations
• Actively interact with guests and staff during operations
• Complete daily, weekly, and monthly management administrative duties including
operations reports, financial documentation, guest correspondence, human
resources / staff management paperwork, operations evaluations, standard
operating procedures, safety and sanitations checklists, ordering and inventory
documentation, and PR/marketing tasks.
Skills/Knowledge Required:
Strong written, verbal, and non-verbal communication skills
Strong problem-solving skills
Strong wine knowledge skills
Proactive attitude with strong organizational and time management skills
The ability to motivate and inspire others to work cooperatively to achieve a
designated goal.
The ability to maintain confidentiality of guest information and pertinent
data.
Flexible schedule - Willing and able to work shift duties that may include
evenings, nights, weekends and holidays.
Ability to exert physical effort in transporting equipment and wares.
Ability to withstand high temperatures, moisture and noise levels in work
areas.
Ability to endure abundant physical movements in various work areas.
Qualification Standards:
Education: High school graduate or equivalent education preferred
Experience: Over 4 years of hospitality experience, and 2 years of previous
managerial experience in a similar position preferred
Licenses or Certificates:
ServSafe & TIPS Preferred
Sommelier Certification II
