Description
Our Story

Qbic Hotels is an adaptive re-use hotel brand in the mid-market segment that has pioneered the use of offsite construction targeted at building conversions. Sustainability combined with a quirky design style and innovation sit at the heart of the Qbic brand story. We combine this with forward thinking technology and our five best basics proposition: best bed, best shower, best wifi, perfectly clean and best service. The result is a top 10% Trip Advisor ranking, competitive build and operating costs and strong comparative revenues.

As a Cerberus group company since June 2017 and with our Chairman Yann Calliere, a former CEO of Accor and Disneyland Paris. Following significant investment, we’re growing quickly and showing no signs of slowing down. Therefore, Qbic is now set for aggressive rollout in key cities across the UK and Europe including a 261-bedroom office conversion in Manchester and 148 bedroom hotel conversion in Brussels, along with recent acquisitions in Porto and Lisbon.

As we expand the head office support functions we have recognised the requirement for a new role within the finance and projects team of Head Office & Projects Accountant.

For further information on the concept please see www.qbichotels.com

About us
At Qbic we welcome character, so to be a true Qbic Ambassador and an integral part of the finance team we’re looking for some who is:

• Free-spirited - Following a natural sense of wonder and adventure
• Independent - Exploring and expressing what’s true to you.
• Neighbourly - Welcoming all to come as you are.
• Genuine – a natural and honest experience without any pretence

We’re “people” people and we’re known for doing things differently, but most importantly we put people at the heart of everything we do.

So what does that really mean?
A close-knit group of special people, with the freedom to be themselves and offer guests the warmth and generosity you’d expect from someone welcoming you into their home. We think that this is important as it elevates the Qbic experience and creates a more personal feel for guests. It also gives guests the feeling they are interacting with real people, who care, rather than corporate clones reading from a script.

About This Job

Reporting to the Group Financial Controller (but with a strong dotted line to the CFO) this is a key role within the roll out team, supporting the CFO and wider Development team as the exciting growth plans accelerate to establish Qbic as a European Hotel Group.

Working in a highly entrepreneurial environment combined with the diligence and reporting required from a large and sophisticated private equity backer, the successful candidate will be willing to flex with the priorities to hand and be able to support the wider business needs via key projects.

The project and general central team will expand as the roll out of Qbic progresses, indeed the ambitions of both the Management Team and Cerberus will require resources to be increased, however in the coming months we will remain a relatively small team and the ability to perform under pressure, work to the tasks in hand and be able to take on a variety of projects will be essential.

• Liaison with the Acquisitions team once deals move towards investment committee / binding offer stage
• Post deal completion taking ownership of the business plan to ensure actual costs are captured accurately and posted to the correct work in progress accounts
• Providing support to the Development Manager and CFO during the pre Contract and 3rd Party funding stages of projects
• Working closely with the Procurement team in respect of purchase order commitments and tracking through to deliveries and invoice and payment stages
• Providing regular project cost reporting summaries by combining external QS reports with internal tracking of direct procured items and pre opening expenses
• Regular updates to the business plan with actuals and rephased timings/costs during the project
• Assistance with Head Office annual budget process
• Posting of regular monthly journals for the Head office accounting month end
• Close liaison with the other entity financial controllers and local accountants in relation to inter company postings and reconciliations
• Assisting the CFO with the production of ad hoc reporting on live projects and associated presentations
• Assisting the Development Manager and CFO with certain project relating items such as setting up of new bank accounts & associated KYC, tracking of certain pre completion items such as insurance requirements and provision of information to new external funders.
Your skills and qualifications

• A relevant degree and/or fully or part qualified recognised accounting qualification
• Hospitality experience a distinct advantage
• Experience of working on capital projects of a material size and complexity
• Previous exposure of working with Project Managers and Quantity Surveyors
• Prior use of SUN accounts / Q&A or similar reporting tools an advantage
• A willingness to travel on some occasions
• A comprehension of lender requirements during the pre construction & construction process
• Good level of using all Microsoft packages with a higher than average excel skill level
• Positive, can do attitude and approach to work and problem solving
• Well organised, excellent follow up and attention to details. A completer-finisher of tasks.
