Commis Chef

Description

Commis Chef

Our passionate team are seeking an ambitious Commis Chef to join their busy kitchen.

Set in Yealmpton, a beautiful Devon village nestled inside the South Hams, the Rose & Crown is a fantastic village pub and one of the most popular places to eat out and stay in Devon. Decorated with rich textures and colours the Inn is warmly elegant and with cosy nooks, comfortable sofas and a roaring fire. Outside the walled garden is an idyllic suntrap, ideal for dining alfresco and savouring drinks as the sun goes down.

What it’s like to be a Commis Chef

You’ll enter an environment that champions positivity and hard work. Operating in some of the world’s most beautiful locations, we love what we do and always go about our day with a sense of fun and with smiles on our faces.

We invest in our people. Forming part of a close-knit team of talented individuals, you’ll receive ongoing support and encouragement to take on new responsibilities and further your career. Be yourself, steer your progression, and join us on our exciting journey.

Working closely with your teammates in our kitchen, you will:

  • Take pride in your contribution to the running of a busy, meticulously clean, and safe kitchen.
  • Thrive as a vital member of the hands-on team, working shoulder-to-shoulder to create fabulous food.
  • Be a supportive and dedicated team-player, acting as a role model and stepping in to help wherever you can.

Our people take great pride in their pubs, guest houses, and hotels. They also say the personal development opportunities we offer set us aside from industry competitors when it comes to forging a successful career in hospitality.

On top of a competitive salary, you’ll receive a wealth of benefits ranging from 28 days holiday (full-time), a generous staff discount, and much more (see below for full details).

About You

You have a passion for working with quality fresh, local food. Being part of a tight-knit, hardworking kitchen team who consistently deliver their absolute best is what gets you up in the morning. It’s also what brings guests to our tables!

While you are proud of what you’ve achieved so far in your career, specifically within a food-lead venue’s high-volume kitchen, you remain hungry to achieve more. You have a natural flair for communication, thrive under pressure, and get a real buzz from being part of a dedicated team.

Your experience has seen you:

  • Develop a passion and enthusiasm for creating fantastic locally-sourced, seasonal food that ‘wows’ your guests.
  • Showcase brilliant teamworking skills.
  • Utilise excellent organisational skills.
  • Gain a Food Hygiene Certificate, and ideally an NVQ Level 2.
