WHAT DOES THIS ROLE BRING TO THE TABLE?

A significant role in the future and growth of Snooze! The Snooze Vice President of Operations ensures operational excellence through execution of the Snooze Compass: Guest, Snoozers, Community, Sustainability, Passion, Craveable, Individuality and Best-of-the-Best.  The Vice President of Operations will protect and grow the amazing Snooze culture by thoughtfully utilizing all Mothership resources including Community, Sustainability, People and Culture, Training, I.T., Finance, and Culinary Innovation to support Snooze restaurants across all regions.  The VP of Ops is the link between the Regional Managers and Mothership, and embodies Snooze leadership while guiding and delivering an unrivaled breakfast experience. This role holds vital our Snooze beliefs in people development, food, service, execution, ambiance and of course, fun!  


THE POSITION SPECIFICS:

Taking on the role of the Vice President of Operations isn’t just about bacon and pancakes. The responsibilities of this position include:

  • The highest of restaurant operations standards
  • Executing detailed developmental restaurant visits with Regional Managers
  • Ability to hire the best-of-the-best for operational leadership retain staff through development and effective communication
  • Efficiency in completing job requirements through working with a sense of urgency, consolidating tasks, delegating and empowering others while managing their efforts
  • Create and execute sound operating plans for each region
  • Assist COO in the creation of Key Performance Indicators around operational areas of focus
  • Provide ongoing feedback and development to Regional Managers on a regular basis, and perform timely performance reviews
  • Create a fun and exciting work environment where managers and teams feel valued and appreciated

Guests and Snoozers

  •  Actively build genuine relationships with Mothership, Regional Managers and restaurant management teams
  •  Lead weekly Regional Manager meetings with COO providing consistent direction for RMs.
  •  Assist in the creation of Snooze University and Pillars meeting content in accordance with the meeting calendar 
  •  Ensure the management teams are fully staffed; confirm that staffing pars are set and sign off on Regional Manager hires
  •  Address the following during each restaurant visit:  facility audit, operations review, operating procedure and policy, operations directives, metric follow up, MS directives validation, and training initiatives
  •  Respond to Guest feedback and complaints, eggmes and other correspondence within 24 hours, ensuring action

Craveable- Food and Beverage

  • Confirm that all policies, procedures and systems are in place in order to maintain Snooze’s highest recipe and presentation standards for food and beverage (i.e. purchasing, receiving, storage and preparation)
  • Validate between 8-10 menu items during each restaurant visit
  • Become an expert on all Food & Beverage to validate and coach product quality
  • Provide operational insights to Culinary Innovation and leadership team to increase product quality, efficiency and operational success.

Guest Experience (restaurant facilities)

  • Ensure that repairs and maintenance is managed and preventative maintenance calendar up to date in each restaurant
  • Collaborate with Regional Manager to confirm that all equipment issues in the restaurant are being acted on and follow up is handled timely and properly
  • Verify that restaurants maintain Snooze cleanliness standards via daily cleaning and paid cleaning crews
  • Personally take pride in all aspects of cleanliness and care for the facility and is a role model for all Regional Managers

Passion and Individuality

  • Demonstrates critical hiring and talent selection practices
  • Confirms that Snoozers are being cared for and that they exhibit a high level of passion for Snooze and the Guests
  • Verifies that management teams are being trained at the highest level
  • Engages in ongoing development of Regional Managers while holding them accountable for performance and maintenance of Snooze standards; includes use of effective performance management and coaching/ counseling to achieve desired leadership behaviors

Community and Sustainability

  • Build and maintain a strong relationship with the Director of Impact surrounding operational priorities in relation to sustainability and community giving
  • Leading and inspiring action through the Snooze Change Makers program within each restaurant
  • Ensures presence of sustainability practices in the restaurants
  • Coordinates with RM/GM regarding support of restaurant events and catering commitments; ensures that the community event calendar is updated
  • Encourages and participates in community involvement in all restaurant regions 

Financial Management

  • Ensures restaurant sales growth year over year in accordance with operating plan
  • Provides continuous financial oversight to RM and direction for all P&L line items with specific emphasis on cost of sales, hourly labor costs and controllable operating expenses
  • Monthly review of plan goals with RM to identify and implement action steps to address plan variances
  • Ensure success of New Baby Snooze (NRO) financial 90-day glide path

LET'S TALK PREREQUISITES! (EDUCATION, CREDENTIALS, AND EXPERIENCE) 

  • 3+ years leading Regional Managers or above within the restaurant, hospitality, or relevant sector
  • 5+ years in a multi-unit leadership role within the restaurant, hospitality, or relevant sector
  • 10+ years in a leadership role (management and above) within the restaurant, hospitality, or relevant sector
  • Must be authorized to work in the United States


LET'S GET PHYSICAL! (ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS)

  •  Must have the stamina to work 50 to 55 hours per week
  •  The travel required for this position is approximately 50% and you must be able to travel for up to 5 days at one time (air, car, bus. Train, and weekend travel all required)

The Nitty Gritty Details

Denver area base salary range: $160,000-180,000 per year (bonus and equity eligible)

The base salary range below represents the low and high end of the Snooze salary range for this position. Actual salaries will vary and may be above or below the range based on various factors including but not limited to experience, education, training, location, merit system, quantity or quality of production, responsibilities, and regular and/or necessary travel. The range listed is just one component of Snooze’s total compensation package for employees.
