THE OPPORTUNITY:
STATE Grill and Bar, located in the historic Empire State Building, is seeking full time runners. We are open for breakfast, lunch, and dinner Monday- Friday and Dinner only on Saturdays.
THE POSITION SUMMARY:
Runner
Patina Restaurant Group is looking for Runners who are responsible for an accurate and timely delivery of dishes from the kitchen to the dining room. Runners must coordinate orders to kitchen staff and ensure all dishes are prepared up to pace and quality standard. The ideal candidate must additionally maintain service efficiency and guest satisfaction at all times. He/she will work well with both kitchen and dining room staff to ensure optimal organization and service.

THE RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Ensure an accurate delivery of dishes from the kitchen to guests in an efficient and timely manner by communicating with all staff members.
• Maintain comprehensive knowledge of all menu items to ensure that all food items are being completed correctly by staff members.
• Complete any required tableside service which may include taking orders, delivering, and explaining menu to customers, etc.
• Be able to perform opening, mid and closing duties as outlined by management.
• Maintain positive guest relations and high standards of service at all times.
You may be called upon from time to time to perform other duties that may not be included in your job description at management's discretion.
THE REQUIREMENTS:
• High school diploma or general education degree (GED) required.
• 1 year of related serving experience and/or training in a restaurant of similar capacity, volume, and clientele highly preferred.
• Ability to navigate and utilize appropriate point of sale (POS) systems, and any other required operating machines (i.e. online or digital reservation systems).
• Ability to work flexible hours, including nights, weekends, and holidays in addition to normal business hours, as needed.
• Possess exceptional communication skills and an ability to anticipate guests needs; an approachable demeanor with guests as well as with employees is essential.
• Maintain a professional and polished appearance combined with the ability to interact with all types of guests.
• Have passion for fine dining combined with substantial food and service knowledge.
• Must be able to multitask in a demanding, high volume environment.
• The ability to speak a secondary language is convenient but not necessary.
