Baker
Small bakery is seeking a full-time baker in Queens, NY.
Requirements:
• At least two years previous commercial baking experience
• Mix and bake ingredients according to recipes to produce cakes, cupcakes, cookies, pies, pastries, or other baked goods
• Proficiency in working with buttercream and decorating bakery style cakes
• Familiar with dairy free and gluten free baking
• Able to lift 50lbs
• Can stand for several hours, available to work weekends
• Valid NYC Food Safety Certification, ServeSafe or similar food handler’s certification
• Culinary School Degree of equivalent preferred
• High school diploma or equivalent
• Proficiency in English language
Responsibilities:
• Observe and maintain the quality of products being baked, and adjust oven temperatures, humidity, and baking time accordingly.
• Combine measured ingredients in bowls of mixing, blending, or cooking machinery.
• Measure and weigh flour and other ingredients to prepare batters, and icings, using recipes scales and graduated containers.
• Bake and decorate buttercream cakes for bakery cases and custom orders.
• Check the quality of raw materials to ensure that standards and specifications are met.
• Adapt the quantity of ingredients to match the amount of items to be baked.
• Check equipment to ensure that it meets health and safety regulations and perform maintenance or cleaning, as necessary.
• Tracks orders in time appropriate manner, planning on the urgency and time to prepare of each order.
• Keeps record of inventory items needed in baking, and consolidates the orders to be placed with the Assistant Manager or Manager on a regular basis
• Must maintain a clean and sanitary work station
