Manager Benefits and Compensation

CAVA can trace its roots back to a single restaurant in Bethesda, Maryland. Today it includes nearly 90 fast-casual Mediterranean restaurants and a line of chef-crafted dips and spreads sold in Whole Foods Markets nationwide. In 2018, CAVA joined with Zoës Kitchen – and together, we’re sharing a passion for bold, craveable meals and exceptional guest experiences with eaters across the country.

The Role:
We are looking for a Benefits and Compensation Manager that will work in partnership with the Chief People Officer to analyze, prepare and execute competitive Benefits and Compensation programs for our employees across all of our restaurants, in our support center and our production facilities.

Responsibilities include researching best practices in benefit and compensation plan design, analyzing the right benefit plan and compensation design for our employees and culture, partnering with leadership across the enterprise to execute all aspects of benefits and compensation programs and executing efficiencies across vendor relationships. To be successful in this role, you should have complete knowledge of benefit plans, practices and strategies to execute employee participation and a thorough understanding of compensation structures that attract and retain employees while managing fiscal responsibilities for the enterprise.

Ultimately, you will be the expert in Employee Benefits and Compensation.

What You’ll Do:
• Manage all Benefits programs including but not limited to health and wellness benefits including company paid and employee paid benefits, all leave benefits including PTO, paid leaves and personal leaves, all other benefits introduced and offered to employees
• Manage Compensation programs including but not limited to; salary surveys and compensation design, incentive compensation programs, both short term and long term incentive plans, job analysis programs and all other compensation programs introduced and offered to employees
• Work directly with Chief People Officer to create and manage all Executive compensation programs and prepare documentation for Board of Directors meetings in partnership with Legal and Finance
• Lead annual benefits open enrollment including portal maintenance, development and deployment of timely communications, benefits website maintenance, and clean-up
• Lead annual renewal process, including but not limited to providing comprehensive financial analysis, comparisons, benchmarking, and recommendations
• Design compensation packages and bonus programs that align with the CAVA and Zoës Kitchen strategic plan and evaluate the effectiveness of those programs against time to fill rates, retention rates and internal promotion rates
• Partner with the People and Culture team to identify trends throughout different functions of the organization
and implement new practices to attract, develop and retain employees
• Execute annual compensation benchmark surveys and report to the CEO, COO and CFO trends in compensation across our industry and discuss appropriate edits to current design
• Proactively track State by State legal changes in employee benefits and compensation and thoughtfully analyze any changes needed to current plans or pay practices. Partner across the enterprise to execute needed changes.

The Qualifications:
• Experience as a Compensation and Benefits Manager or similar role
• Experience working with vendors, brokers and software related to Benefits and Compensation
• Hands-on experience with Human Resources Information Systems and payroll software
• Hands on experience with Business Intelligence reporting and proficient in ad hoc reporting
• Knowledge of building compensation packages and bonus programs for various departments and seniority levels
• Excellent understanding of job evaluation and job analysis systems
• Excellent understanding of Excel and turning data gathering into superb analytical skills
