Director of Accounting

CAVA can trace its roots back to a single restaurant in Bethesda, Maryland. Today it includes nearly 90 fast-casual Mediterranean restaurants and a line of chef-crafted dips and spreads sold in Whole Foods Markets nationwide. The Role:
Director of Accounting

What You’ll Do:
• Develop Accounting Team and coach on proper deliverables
• Lead and coordinate reconciliations, audits, balance sheet account close, including timely reviews and sign offs by the Accounting team.
• Assist with complex accounting functions, including creating templates for complex areas and reviewing existing accounting items for accuracy, audit readiness and areas for improvement.
• Assist with Close, including hard quarter and annual Closes.
• Coordinate and review audit deliverables (PBCs) for financial audit working closely with the Financial Reporting team.
• Research and lead accounting for complex business topics such as business combinations, minority interest accounting, lease accounting etc.,
• Document accounting policies and procedures to ensure assigned processes and transaction flow.
• Incorporate internal controls into processes as warranted to prevent inaccuracies in financial statements, protect company assets and build efficiencies.
• Lead and support other accounting related projects as assigned.


The Skills:
• A bachelor’s degree with a concentration in Accounting/Finance
• Prior experience leading or assisting Accounting teams
• Strong understanding of GAAP and ability to apply complex GAAP
• Able to document and analyze accounting processes, including internal controls
• Able to create written policies and procedures
• Prior experience with SEC accounting
• Experience with internal/external auditors
• Strong computer skills (Accounting software, Excel, Outlook, etc.)
