Description

Scrum Master

Digital Technology @ KFC…

At KFC, our platform has constantly evolved to make it as easy as possible to order our great chicken.  We brought our development in-house four years ago which has helped to drive collaboration and innovation.  Here at KFC, we empower people to be their best selves, make a difference and have fun.

Think you can only buy our chicken in-store at our restaurants?!  Think again!  We’ve created a fast, simple omnichannel experience to help people order and get their food in the way that is most convenient to them, whether that be through our app to collect service via the front counter or drive-thru, in-store kiosk integrations, or fully integrated aggregator delivery (Deliveroo, JustEat, UberEats etc) and there’s more to come.

We use React on our front-end and Node.js on our back-end, within a Serverless environment (AWS), so experience with JavaScript is ideal, but we’re happy to support your learning if you don’t have it. You can read more about our tech stack here…

https://aws.amazon.com/blogs/architecture/the-technology-behind-kfcs-finger-lickin-good-success/

Whilst we’re one of the world’s biggest and most loved brands, we’re still a small tech team of around 40 people (and growing!) so it’s a great environment to get exposure to lots of different projects. Everyone gets to contribute and collaborate so you should be comfortable discussing and challenging ideas with other QAs, Developers, Scrum Masters, DevOps Engineers and Designers.

About the role…

We have a great opportunity for a Scrum Master to join the KFC Digital Technology team.  You must be passionate about supporting software engineering teams to realise the value of agile culture, frameworks and tools.  You will be experienced at coaching and guiding by using various methodologies to optimize our Agile teams.

In this role you will manage delivery across 3 key development teams within KFC Digital Technology (Omni-Channel, Customer Attract & Retain and Pay & Fulfil).  You will also be responsible for setting up mechanisms to identify and resolve dependencies across these teams.

Our new Scrum Master will use their servant leader skills to help teams and individuals collaborate and communicate in effective and sustainable ways.

What we’d love from you…

  • First level Scrum Master certification (CSM, PSM I)
  • Experience in playing the Scrum Master role for at least two/three years for a software development team that was diligently applying Scrum principles, practices, and theory.
  • Good skills and knowledge of servant leadership, facilitation, situational awareness, conflict resolution, continual improvement, empowerment, and increasing transparency.
  • Knowledge of various well-documented patterns and techniques for filling in the intentional gaps left in the Scrum approach (example: numerous Burndown technologies, various Retrospective formats, handling bugs, etc.).
  • Knowledge of other Agile approaches: XP, Kanban, Crystal, FDD, etc.
  • Awareness and experience with widely successful Agile techniques: User Stories, ATDD, TDD, Continuous Integration, Continuous Testing, Pairing, Automated Testing, Agile Games.
  • Applicable knowledge of the technologies used by the team.
  • The experience in applying a wide variety of well-documented patterns and techniques for filling in the intentional gaps left in the Scrum approach (example: numerous Burndown technologies, various Retrospective formats, handling bugs, etc.).
  • Expertise in managing Jira and Confluence
  • Previous experience as a team lead.

About You…

We deliver together as a team so are highly collaborative, even when remote, so we’re looking for skills to help further foster this…

  • Familiarity and use of Agile frameworks including Scrum & Kanban
  • Team Player
  • Proactive and not afraid to ask questions or for help when needed
  • Good communication skills
  • Positive can-do attitude
  • We need somebody who knows how to take initiatives and contribute to discussions with ideas, possible workarounds and alternate solutions.

What we can offer you...

Rewards, Progression and LOTS of Recognition!

A career with KFC offers much more than just fantastic earning potential. We reward achievement with amazing incentives and benefits, including: -
