Assistant General Manager
To support our mission to create a collection of iconic pubs and country inns, celebrating the best of British and supporting our local heroes with all things food.
Overview of the role
To support your General Manager in leading the pub. You will be confident taking responsibility on site when needed, developing your team and driving standards of service in all areas. With support, you will look at the business planning process, budgeting, driving sales and developing your skills as a leader.

People
• Hire, develop and keep the best people to drive excellence at your pub.
• Act as a role model for your team, displaying the Cirrus values and ensure high standards at all times.
• Involve yourself in the annual appraisal process for the front of house team, monitoring and recording information.
• Identify opportunities for your team to develop both in the short and long term.
• Monitor and address the turnover of team members at your pub.
• Input to, and help implement the training plan within the pub front of house team, ensuring they have the tools and the skills
to do the job expected.
• To champion the culture and reward initiatives within the pub to drive team engagement.
• To champion the cohesion between front of house, bar and back of house operations to ensure teamwork, communication and food and drink knowledge is shared.


Operational (magic)
• Ensure that all guests receive exceptional customer service and help others deliver the same service.
• Support your landlord/General Manager to control payroll and operating costs in line with forecasted business budget.
• To ensure that any problems or complaints are dealt with efficiently and if an immediate solution is unobtainable to ensure a full hand over to the relevant person as soon as possible.
• To ensure that all incidents that occur whilst you are on duty are recorded in the correct manner i.e. fire, accidents, complaints.
• Ensure all tasks are performed to the highest standards to comply with company procedures and setting goals to exceed customer expectations.
• Support all team members to have up to date product knowledge about all customer products and services available within the pub.
• Set targets and incentives during shifts to ensure team members are alert to maximising department revenue through
upselling.
• To ensure maintenance, cleanliness and training in use of equipment used in your pub
• To ensure the smooth running of the bar maintaining stock control as per company guidelines.
• Support your landlord by ensuring a comprehensive knowledge of liquor licensing laws for yourself and all members of your
team.
• To ensure restaurant and bar cleaning rotas are followed and all areas are fully prepared and ready for service.
• Generate ideas to improve sales in the restaurant and bar.
• Comply with statutory and legal requirements for fire, health and safety, hygiene, licensing, and employment laws.
• Support your landlord/General Manager by ensuring that all members of the team are trained via the training calendar and meet the standards required by H&S audit.
• To ensure full procedural knowledge in the event of an emergency e.g. fire, bomb threat and to ensure that all actions are carried out within the pub health and safety policy.
• To immediately report to the Maintenance department any hazards or defects.
• To maintain and develop relationships with suppliers.
• To support the operational teams, drive performance across both financial and customer metrics at the pub.

Money
• Support your Landlord/General Manager in contributing to and achieving annual budget.
• To help the operational team in deciding and executing promotional and offers that support enhancing the customer experience and putting more cash in the till.
• Effectively manage the supply chain to ensure only the very best in produce is served to our guests. Managing orders, good receivable, credits, and replacements if items don’t meet your expectation.
• To support your landlord/General Manager in the delivery of beverage cost, ensure the team understand the elements and drive costs in line with the objectives of the pub.
• To support the accountability of your Landlord/General Manager for payroll and productivity in the front of house areas.
• Ensure effective rota management, attendance management of allocation of holidays in line with forecast.

Growth
• To engage with guests, monitor, act on feedback. To champion guest interaction and ensure they remain at the heart of everything we do.
• To grow opportunities to engage with the neighbourhood and maximise PR opportunities available to the pub.
• To support your landlord/General Manager in any people initiatives and programmes.
• To ensure the pubs knowledge of competitor businesses is relevant, up to date and considered in all matters pertaining to the pub.
• To help drive and active social media presence in relation to social media, being locally famous for the food you serve and the guests you serve it to.
• To generate ideas for increased sales and revenue for your pub
