Kickstart - Assistant Kitchen Chef


Description

Job role will include:

  • Assisting the Cook in food preparation activities, such as cleaning, cutting, chopping and peeling food ingredients
  • Cleaning and sanitising the food preparation areas based on company and industry hygiene codes and health and safety standards SFBB/HACCP
  • Washing, disinfecting and properly storing cooking and kitchen utensils and equipment
  • Buying, weighing and storing ingredients and food supplies
  • Operating a variety of kitchen appliances and instruments including cutters, knives, mixers and ovens
  • Managing inventory, unloading supplies and organising the storeroom 

The Assistant Chef’s duties include washing and cleaning the kitchen and food preparation area. They also help with preparing ingredients for foods, testing new dishes and planning menus. Other responsibilities include removing rubbish, washing bins and disinfecting the entire kitchen to meet health and safety standards. The Assistant Cook will also maintain the kitchen inventory, buy and store ingredients and clear the refrigerators.

You must have experience in kitchen operations as well as an in-depth understanding of food health and safety regulations. You will have exceptional time management and organisational skills, excellent verbal and written communication skills, exceptional physical stamina and strength. You are expected to exhibit thoroughness and attention to detail and you should be able to work as part of a team.
