Kitchen Porter - Reporting to Junior Sous Chef/Sous Chef/Head Chef.

Kitchen Porters are the engine of the restaurant. Your role in the Kitchen is to supply clean, sanitary dishes and pots on time, and clean the kitchen areas in accordance with the restaurant’s policies and procedures in order to maintain a safe workplace.


Tasks, duties and responsibilities:

  • Maintain a supply of clean dishes, glassware, silver, pots etc.
  • Wash dishes, silverware, and glassware by operating the dish machine
  • Ensure that washed items are returned to the proper place.
  • Maintain a clean kitchen environment by assisting kitchen staff and by following standard cleaning practices.
  • Sweep and mop the entire kitchen and dish room.
  • Wash all clearing counters and shelves.
  • Monitor trash levels in all bins and remove them to the appropriate place when needed.
  • Clean and wash all kitchen cooking units.
  • Clean and wash all pot storage shelving units.
  • Assist the chefs with light prep duties, as required.
  • Assist with receiving, repackaging, storing and rotating stock as instructed by the sous or head chef.
  • Keep cleaning equipment clean and well maintained.

Health & Safety

In this role you will:

  • Adhere to all health, sanitation and food safety rules and regulations.
  • Report all potential and real hazards immediately.
  • Report any pest sightings.
  • Fully understand the restaurant’s fire and emergency procedures.
  • Work in a safe manner that does not harm or injure self or others.
  • Keep the highest standards of personal hygiene, dress, appropriate uniform, appearance, and conduct.


General

In this role you will be required to:

  • Attend meetings and training required by the Head Chef.
  • Accept flexible work schedule necessary for uninterrupted service to the food production function.
  • Maintain working areas, materials and company property clean, tidy and in good shape.


You will be working in late-night restaurant/bar/music venues which are a lot of fun. 

You must be able to:

  • work hard
  • enjoy yourself while working hard 
  • work as part of a team
  • be proactive
  • communicate well.
