Description

We’re looking for a General Manager to join our talented team at The Old Queen’s Head.

The ideal candidate will have a proven track record as a General Manager in a public house environment, with a strong focus on delivering exceptional service, particularly in high-volume settings. You will be responsible for the overall management of the venue, ensuring that every guest enjoys an unforgettable experience. Your warm approach will make coaching and identifying growth potential for other team members a natural focus. You will oversee all day to day operations of The Old Queens Head and contribute continuously to develop operational effectiveness and efficiency at the venue with unparalleled attention to detail.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Overall management of the pub and restaurant, ensuring smooth day-to-day operations.

  • Lead, inspire, and manage a diverse team of staff, from the bar to the kitchen.

  • Oversee the bar operations, including stock management, ordering, and maintaining high standards of cleanliness and organization.

  • Manage the restaurant, particularly the 400-cover service on Sundays, ensuring efficient operations, high service standards, and excellent customer satisfaction.

  • Oversee staff scheduling, training, and performance management, ensuring a well-motivated team.

  • Work closely with the kitchen team to ensure a seamless experience between the bar and restaurant.

  • Drive sales and profitability by focusing on both customer experience and operational efficiency.

  • Ensure compliance with all health, safety, and licensing regulations.

What We’re Looking For: 

  • Strong experience in bar management, with a deep understanding of public house operations.

  • Proven experience in managing high-volume restaurant services, particularly during peak times such as Sunday roasts.

  • Extensive wine knowledge and a passion for hospitality.

  • Exceptional leadership skills with the ability to manage, motivate, and develop a large team.

  • Strong organizational skills, with the ability to multitask and manage both the pub and restaurant sides of the business effectively.

  • Excellent communication skills and a customer-first mentality.

  • Experience in financial management, including budgeting, forecasting, and cost control.
