We are on a mission to grow. Our mad-cap journey started in 2015 when we unwrapped the Salisbury Arms in Cambridge and welcomed in the locals – having been named as “Best Pub in Cambridge”, from humble beginnings we have gained the confidence to share our unique hospitality.
Welcome to the Radcliffe Arms, your new home from home in Hitchin. Our love comes in threes! Think light crispy artisan pizza (cooked in our amazing wood-fired oven), warming one-pots of comfort food (bubbling mac n cheese anyone?) and pints of beer (crafted at our Grandfathers Brewery).
Your role as Kitchen Porter:
This is an entry level position in the kitchen. We recognise and celebrate the importance of a good kitchen porter for helping the kitchen run smoothly. No matter how good the chefs might be, if there are no clean pans nothing is going to get cooked!
Your main duties will involve:
• Ensuring basic cleaning jobs are carried out as quickly as possible
• Collecting and washing up pots and pans
• Cleaning food preparation areas and equipment, in addition to crockery and cutlery
• Unloading food and equipment deliveries
• Keeping store room organised
• Keeping work surfaces, walls and floors clean and sanitised
• Food preparation including preparing some salads or desserts
• Performing other duties as required including deep cleans and laundry of kitchen towels and aprons
At the start of your employment you will be required to complete some online training modules that will better prepare you for the role and give you a recognised certificate in each area; which include Health and Safety and Food Hygiene amongst others. You will also receive a clear role induction as well as on the job training from experienced and passionate people that will help get the best out of you!
Career Progression
Opportunities for progression are readily available for a hardworking and ambitious employee or candidate. The next job role up from this position is Pizza Chef; the entry level chef role in our kitchens. This role will introduce you to the kitchen from a chef’s perspective and you will learn a considerable amount in a short space of time, giving you the experience and knowledge to progress further in the future.

- Some previous exposure to a kitchen environment ideal
- Ability to work on your own initiative
- Desire to learn, improve and train from those around you
- A proud individual that always strives to deliver their best
