Union Fare is a full service restaurant and a contemporary marketplace and with two iconic bars. Spanning a full city block, Union Fare is centrally located in a Historic Landmark in the heart of Union Square, NYC.
We are seeking a Pastry Cook that wants to learn and grow with a new company.
We will provide you with the resources, and the environment necessary to reach your
full potential within a full service restaurant with plated desserts and a full service bakery.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
• Handle all types of baking product to prepare and present for dining customers
• Prepares bakery and pastry items in the manner and recipes set forth by the Chef
• Practice highest regards for safety within the kitchen workplace areas
• Run a station during fast-paced times during the serving day
• Ensure that all potential and real hazards are reported immediately
• Practice the highest regard for safety following Union Fare standards
• Follow and adhere to all standards set forth by the Board of Health
• Performs other related activities as assigned
QUALIFICATIONS AND EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS
• High School education preferred; will need basic reading and arithmetic skills and understanding
• Strong organizational and verbal communication skills
• Appropriately groomed for work in a kitchen
• Will be exposed to various environmental conditions such as cold due to refrigeration and heat due to hot surfaces and lamps and fumes due to grilling and smoking of various meals
• Exposure to some chemicals and frying oil used for food preparation
• Ability to lift up to 40 pounds often
• Ability to sit, stand and bend would be required
